Looking for input as to whether folks would find whisker plots useful. Something like this:


A word or two about the plot. Each whisker bar is typically comprised of five elements:

1. Range High
2. Quartile 3
3. Median (line)
4. Quartile 2
5. Range Low

But we can also "fool" the plot by providing only five data points to it. So those five points could be something like:

1. Room Temperature High
2. Setpoint Cool
3. Thermostat Temperature
4. Setpoint Heat
5. Room Temperature Low

Please respond to this thread if you think such a plot would be useful and what you'd use it for.

Here's a "real world" example. It's a plot of 75 hours' worth of indoor humidity values.

Not the best comparison when you put them together, but here's a quick and dirty with indoor and outdoor humidity side by side. Red marker represents current measure.
