Silly question

Hey!
Had a flick through the documentation but still can't get it to log any data.

I'm trying to log temperatures from my Honeywell devices.
I've basically left the defaults for the plugin configuration.
Created a CSV Device.

Title: Temperature
ID: The device ID of one of my Honeywell Thermostats
Validate, and then select TemperatureInput1 (Or TemperatureInputAll)

Under Item List:
Boys Room Temperature

Click Save.

I now have an empty CSV file, and if I check the settings on the CSV device everything is now blank.
Am I missing something really obvious?

Cheers!

Re: Silly question

Pete,
It works for me, the only difference is I capture "temperatureInput1" without the initial capital, I grab the actual and setpoint from multiple rooms with this and it works fine.
Thanks,
Neil

Re: Silly question

I just tried creating a new one, as when I originally set this up it was with the initial version when you added the state to log manually but this also worked fine as you described it. I forced a refresh by restarting the plugin.

Re: Silly question

When you go back in to edit the settings of the CSV capture, is yours blank?

I've restarted the plugin and deleted / recreated the CSV device with no luck.
Restarting the plugin shows a warning:
Matplotlib Warning Invalid Indigo ID. invalid literal for int() with base 10: 'None'

Re: Silly question

Ah think I have it now. I'll keep an eye on it.

Seems to be:
Go into the CSV Device, fill in the top section, click add. Close the window.
Re-open the window, fill in the bottom section (which now populates with info added just a second ago)
Click update Item, close the window.
Re-open the window, fill in the top information, select the device from the drop down, click save.
Now my CSV has some data (well, one entry so far!)

It definitely shouldn't require that much effort to get going. You should be able to the following:

Enter data in the top two boxes and click validate.
Select the data to chart from the dropdown list and click Add Item.
Repeat to add more items as needed.
Click save.

Then, after the designated Refresh Interval (set in the plugin preferences) the new data files will be generated (and each subsequent interval). You can force the data to be generated by reloading the plugin.

D'oh - Got it. Cheers for that! Sorry, instructions confused me, or likely I mis-read them :)

Got data logging now so will play with the charts / control pages :)

Cheers

Excellent. I'll take a look at the instructions and see if there's ways to make them clearer.
