Got a Lutro Caséta starter kit from Lowes -- No luck

Hi all,

I bought a Caséta starter kit from Lowes which includes the hub (not the Pro model), a dimmer switch, and a Pico remote.

I downloaded 7.3.2 of the Lutron RRA2/Caséta plug-in for Indigo 7.4.1 and have it installed.

The hub is on my network, and I used LanScan to identify its IP address.

I created a new Network Connected Gateway device, but the log is stuck on "Connecting via IP to 192.168.0.207:23"

Doing a port scan on the hub shows that ports 22, 8081, and 8083 are open.

Then I saw on the instructions here: https://github.com/FlyingDiver/Indigo-r ... on-for-Caséta-and-RRA2-Select-Systems

That the Pro hub is needed. Is this indeed the case?

Yes it is. The non-Pro hub doesn't implement the automation interface.

Huh. Weird. The ReadMe on the GitHub repository has the requirements, but that ReadMe didn't get updated on the Plugin Store.

I need to fix that.

Edit: Fixed

Drats... ok, so all I need is a Pro hub and I'm good to go?

Awesome. If you have any suggested places online where I can get one, please share.

This gives me the opportunity to test the Caséta switch, and I have to say, I like the feel of it. Seems more natural than an Insteon Keypad Linc which is what I'm replacing for this test.

That's where I buy all my Lutron gear.

Re: Got a Lutro Caséta starter kit from Lowes -- No luck

Ok, got my Lutron Pro Starter Kit from Hanks. Took a bit to get the Pro Hub up and running with Indigo, but I'm there. What I learned:

1. You have to find the IP address of the hub yourself (once you turn on Telnet in the Lutron iOS App's advanced settings)
2. I had to use the reporting feature in the Lutron iOS app to give me a list of devices so I could obtain the IDs which are needed when creating a new Lutron dimmer device.

So it's a little more involved in setup than Insteon, but if the reliability is much better, then I'm already sold. What I especially like about this is the hub is ethernet based so I can place it in an area that propagates the best signal, and not just have it tethered to my Mac like the Insteon PowerLinc.

I added it as a HomeKit Bridge device and can control it with Siri. I'll play with it some more. So far I like the Pico remote. Very handy.

Speaking of... is there any advantage to adding the Pico remote as an Indigo device?

Actually, there's a way to export a report from the iOS app which will email you a JSON data string. You can import that directly into the plugin and it will create all the devices for you.

If you want to do custom actions based on button presses on the Pico, yes. I use mine that way and don't program the actions into the Hub. That way I can do double-click, triple-click, etc. So I can make the different buttons control different devices (including non-Lutron ones). But you do loose some functionality that the Hub can do directly.

Thanks. I'll make note of that.

Speaking of reliability, I don't mean just signal integrity and 100% response. I'm also talking about reliability of the hardware. Insteon switches seem to start having issues after 2-3 years for whatever reason. At least that's what I've experienced. I really want something that I can install and forget -- it just works.
