First of all, one of the guys here suggested using 2 routers. Is this important and how is it done?

Where is "here"? Are you talking about ethernet routers? Or did he mean "repeaters"? I can't think of any reason to do anything special with your network router(s) for Lutron. They only use the LAN to communicate with Indigo (or other Home Automation system).

And second, I am confused about using Insteon with the ra 2 setup. I read that I could use ethernet to communicate with the main repeater for this (is this the same setup that I have used to program the main repeater?) What is the serial input for if Ethernet already works?

You can connect your Indigo server to the Lutron repeater using Ethernet or Serial. Ethernet is recommended. Serial is only really useful for older HA controllers that don't have Ethernet.

Re: help for beginner with Lutron

Ok.

So I now have the repeater as a device in my Indigo devices. It shows as connected, but has no address. I have added one of the Lutron dimmers which does indeed have an address (I got the integration ID from the Essentials program.) However, I can not seems to be able to control the light from Indigo. I'm afraid I'm missing something basic.

Did you create a gateway device? You need to create a gateway with the serial or IP connection information.

I updated the Home page in the Wiki to match the current plugin release. https://github.com/FlyingDiver/Indigo-radiora2/wiki

Yes, I have a Lutron IP gateway that shows as connected in Indigo but has no address. Is this normal?

Where do I find "Create Devices from RRA2 Repeater"

Sorry for my obtuseness. And thanks for the help.

No, that's not normal. Did you enter the IP address of the repeater in the device configuration? You'll also need the username and password configured for Integration clients in the repeater. I think the default is "lutron" for both.

Create devices is a menu command. "Plugins" -> "Lutron..." -> "Create devices..."

Yes, I put in the address of the repeater, and user name and passwords. I created 2 devices both of which have addresses, but do not show on my iPhone in Indigo Touch. Also, the Gateway still has no address showing but shows as connected.

Thanks

Are you able to control those 2 devices using the Indigo client? (not Indigo Touch).

Ignore the address field for the Gateway. I think there's a bug for newly created gateways not showing the address.

No, nothing happens.
I wonder if it's an IP address problem. I don't know much about that stuff.

Re: help for beginner with Lutron

Does it matter how close to the main repeater my Mac running Indigo is?

Then you're communicating with the repeater just fine.

No, they're connected via your LAN, so location doesn't matter.

Re: help for beginner with Lutron

You got a keypad as well as the dimmers, right? You can control the dimmers from the keypad, right?

Turn on debug level logging and try some commands to control the lights. Also press a button on the keypad. Then post the log.

It's in the plugin configuration dialog.
