HH's won't communicate with Indigo anymore

Hi Joe,

Today, one of my HH's won't communicate with Indigo anymore.
The HH upstairs is still working and is at fw version 4.15.201. The one that's not communication anymore is at fw version 4.15.206

Error message with logging on:

Harmony Hub Debug Called deviceStartComm(self, device): Living: Harmony Hub (913114866)
Harmony Hub Debug Living: Harmony Hub: Device Current Version = 1
Harmony Hub Debug Living: Harmony Hub: Device Version is up to date
Harmony Hub Debug Living: Harmony Hub: Starting harmonyHub device (913114866)
Harmony Hub Warning Living: Harmony Hub: Socket test failure
Harmony Hub Error Living: Harmony Hub: Error starting harmonyHub device, possibly bad IP address, disabling...
Harmony Hub Debug Called deviceStopComm(self, device): Living: Harmony Hub (913114866)

IP addresses are 100% correct.

Any idea?

Thank you,
Wouter

Re: Bug Reports and Feature Requests

The new firmware broke something. I won’t be able to work on this until after Christmas.

Re: Bug Reports and Feature Requests

Harmony firmware update broke LAN control of their hub. Here are instructions down grading to an earlier version that is supposed to fix the problem.

Re: Bug Reports and Feature Requests

Sorry, It appears on further inspection this fix won't work because Logitech has eliminated its Mac desktop software. And it was required to reset the hub and to install an earlier version.

Re: Bug Reports and Feature Requests

Logitech engineering has acknowledged the problem with the new firmware that breaks communication with all 3rd party software and is working to fix it as soon as they can.

Thanks for the update..I’m in the same shoes...wife won’t be happy when Siri does nothing when asked to turn on the TV. Oh well the joys of automation...

APIs are a tricky thing because they are a contract. You have to be extremely careful about backwards compatibility. Something that many companies apparently miss in their regression testing.

Agreed.

Quality control/assurance is also something that our favourite fruit brand seem to be missing in the recent past.

Re: Bug Reports and Feature Requests

Does the hub automatically update it's firmware on it's own? I have not physically applied any updates so I assumed it must have done it automatically. I have lost communications between Indigo and the hub.

Indigo 7.1.1, OS 10.14.6, MacMini .3.2 GHz 6 Intel Core i7, 64 GB ram

Re: Bug Reports and Feature Requests

I've successfully restored the firmware and disabled internet access for both of my HH devices on my firewall.
I followed these instructions to downgrade: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/ ... s/ebziktu/
If the Mac software doesn't detect your Harmony Hub, try another USB cable. Lost 20 minutes figuring that out :)

I rolled back the firmware and the plugin started working again. Then I blocked the IP addresses as specified in the instructions using my Netgear router's keyword/site blocking features. Unfortunately however, when I got up this morning I discovered that the hub updated itself again. Not sure what went wrong.

Re: Bug Reports and Feature Requests

See my thread on the other post. There is a solution to give control back, it just needs coding

What does the hub need to talk to outside of your LAN? If it doesn't need to talk to anything other than what is on your local LAN; can you set a static IP address on the Harmony hub? The key here is not to give it a default gateway and then it will never be able to talk to anything other than the local network it is on.

I don't think the hub can be given a separate gateway but it turns out my router can block all internet access for any device(s). I just enabled that and removed the blocks on the IP addresses that wasn't working anyway. Hopefully this will prevent updates. If I need to sync the hub with new devices and activities, it will be easy to temporarily remove the block.
