Email problem

Email:
Indigo 7.4, BetterEmail 7.2.7, trying to send notifications. Had email working fine with just indigo until I changed email, now I can't get Gmail or Yahoo to work from Indigo, both work fine outside the program for sending & receiving, ( this has been going on for a while now, before I did program updates ).
I get ( Better Email Error Better Email sending: SMTP server connection error: (535, '5.7.0 (#AUTH005) Too many bad auth attempts.')

So, hope someone could maybe shed some light as to what I may have done. Thanks

This is the same thing you reported here: viewtopic.php?f=131&t=21547&p=182994#p182994

Did you read those replies? Seems pretty clear this is a lock-out from bad login attempts. Is this Yahoo or Gmail? If Gmail, there's a post in the other thread about the setting required for non-OAuth clients (which the plugin requires).

Switched to GNX as was recommended, still get an error message, "Better Email sending: SMTP server connection error: (535, 'Authentication credentials invalid')"
Other than user name & password not sure what it is looking for, or where.

Thanks

It’s very strange that you get the same error with two different servers. Please turn debug logging on and try to send an email. Also a screen shot of the device config dialog would be useful.

AfterGMX tech support now I get ( Better Email Error Better Email sending: SMTP server connection error: Connection unexpectedly closed ).
Also, with Indigo when I try to drag a screen shot all that shows is the ( /Users/petermcgaffin/Desktop/Screen Shot 2019-10-17 at 2.16.25 PM.jpg ) Should be easy, just not today. :( :(

Do you have any virus (or firewall) software installed on your Mac?

To upload a screen shot click on the Attachments link (in purple below the edit area), then select the Choose File button and select your screenshot.

Antivirus is disabled and no extra fire wall installed.

I have added a couple screen shot files, I don't see them in this area so do they get sent?

I've never used GMX, but I would try using ***@gmx.com instead of ***.gmx.com for the LOGIN.

That was a real obvious one, but it did not change, still get "Better Email Error Better Email sending: SMTP server connection error: Connection unexpectedly closed"
The two screen shots are now.

Change Encryption to SSL and Server Port number to 587.

Those were the settings from GMX tech support, When I change them to 587 & SSL I get " Better Email Error Better Email sending: SMTP server connection error: [SSL: UNKNOWN_PROTOCOL] unknown protocol (_ssl.c:590) "
Have no anti virus running and fire wall is " com.perceptiveautomation.indigo-server: Allow all connections"

Soooo, I went back to the settings from GMX Teck support and started with each port in there list, resetting Better Email each time, Port 25, STARTTLS, mail.gmx.com are the setting that actual work. I now have notification working, ( More than once ). Thanks for your help and suggestions, seems like a learning experience every time I open the hood, and that's not bad. :D :D
