Airfoil: "Application isn’t running"

After updating airfoil to the newest version (4.8.2), the airfoil plugin no longer works. In the log i get "application isn't running".
I read this might be related to indigo 6.05, but i had airfoil working with that version before the update today.
Anyone else encountered this error, any solution yet?

Have you tried reinstalling Airfoil as well? I don't know if that'll fix the issue but it's worth a try. I have to re-install Indigo almost every time the computer reboots because the OS doesn't think IndigoServer is running when sent AppleEvents via AppleScript. Very frustrating.

I just upgraded both on my development Mac (Lion) and on my testing MacBook Pro (Mavericks) and both are running fine, no errors. I'd try deleting Airfoil and reinstalling that.

Just quitting the server then restarting it manually (double-clicking on the server app: /Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 6/IndigoServer.app) doesn't work? That seems to work for some people...

I haven't tried double-clicking on the IndigoServer app directly. Next time it happens I'll give that a try. Thanks!

Re: Airfoil: "Application isn’t running"

Well, after reinstalling airfoil my existing actions are working again. But when i try to create a new action it can't find my airfoil speakers.
In the log i now get this error:

Airfoil Error Error in plugin execution runConcurrentThread:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "plugin.py", line 538, in runConcurrentThread
File "plugin.py", line 488, in update
<type 'exceptions.UnicodeEncodeError'>: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\xf8' in position 62: ordinal not in range(128)

Airfoil Error plugin runConcurrentThread function returned or failed (will attempt again in 10 seconds)

Re: Airfoil: "Application isn’t running"

You have a speaker with a name that contains a unicode (non-ascii) character in it. The fix is coming in the next release (6.0.6) but until it drops you can just remove any unicode characters from any speaker name (it appears you have an ø in one).
