Have you tried setting the Host IP Address in the plugin configuration? Also if you have the non-Echo Filter turned on, turn it off (uncheck it). Reload the plugin and try again.

The above suggestions may help? :)

Thanks Jon,

Will try this if the devices get forgotten again. Could simplify the process of restoring functionality when needed.

You're sure it's a gen 1 (and NOT an Echo Plus)? What firmware version does it have?

Well, it’s tall white has two buttons on top and a ring to turn the volume. Firmware version is 647588720

That sounds like a Gen 1 Echo

Re: Alexa no longer discovering Indigo installed/managed dev

Thanks to all for your suggestions. Here's a summary of what I've tried so far to no avail...

- Confirmed I have an Echo Gen1.
- Firmware is: 647588720.
- Host IP Address is manually specified in the plugin configuration.
- The non-Echo Filter is turned off.
- Plugin has been reloaded.
- All other various echo devices (5 echo dot Gen2, 1 Show 5) have been powered off.
- Forget all devices has been performed 3 times in the Alexa web browser app.
- Confirmed Echo Gen1 is the only Echo device on my network...

When I verybally ask Echo Gen1 to discover devices, the two responses I receive are: "It looks like I'm not able to do that for you.For other ideas just ask me to open free time" or "hmm, I can't do that".

Not sure where to go from here. :-(
Suggestions welcome.
Thanks!

Those responses seem oddly generic - I'd expect it to say it can't find any devices. The implication is that there's something wrong - like it doesn't know what "discover devices" means. Very odd indeed. Just for grins, have you tried doing the discover from the Alexa app instead?

One more thought - have you tried a factory reset on it? Maybe it got a bad firmware update or something.

Tried a factory reset on the Echo gen1 - still same responses. Also tried discovery from Alexa app. No change.

Did you try overriding the automatic IP address of the Alexa-Hue Bridge with the IP address of the Indigo Server? That’s what fixed my problem.

OK, well, it was worth asking, but sorry it was no help.

I guess we should consider crowdfunding Matt and Jay’s effort to add native Echo/Alexa support to Indigo. I’ll throw in USD 50 J

I would certainly pay to have that functionality!!! Once you get used to voice commands, nothing else even comes close.

It’s the first time in almost 40 years of fiddling with home automation, that my family actually uses it. I’m a recovering X10 user

Re: Alexa no longer discovering Indigo installed/managed dev

So tenacity pays off.... I decided to give this another go, and was finally able to get it to function again. The following are the steps I took:

- Manually configured the IP address and specified the IP of my Indigo server in the plugin.
- Disabled Non-echo filter in the plugin.
- Forget all devices from alexa web and ios app.
- Deleted all Alexa-hue bridge devices in Indigo and reinstalled plugin (latest version).
- Completely removed all my Echo devices [(6) Gen2 Dots, (1) Show 5, (1) Echo Gen1] from my Alexa,Amazon account.
- Factory reset my echo gen1.
- Waited 1 hour and added all echo devices back to my Amazon alexa account. Started with Gen1 first - not sure if that matters or not.
- Created my alexa devices within plugin and started discovery.
- Asked my echo Gen1 to discover devices but she refused me again. Said she couldn't do that for me - even after a factory reset.
- Performed a discovery from the web app, it discovered about 90% of my various devices. Did this discovery multiple times - its worth noting that every time I performed a discovery from the web app, all my echo devices blue ring did their clockwise animation simultaneously. Save only for the echo Gen1.
- Asked one of my Gen2 dots to discover devices -the rest of my devices were found.

I 'm of the belief the actions above that made the difference were removing devices from account and adding them back after a factory reset of the gen1.

Not sure if this helps any to further diagnose issues others may be having. But there it is.
Cheers,
rick
