Success with Amazon FireTV connecting to Alexa-Hue Bridge?

Has anyone been successful getting the Amazon FireTV Ultra 4K stick to recognize Indigo's Alexa-Hue Bridge devices when the FireTV stick is the only Amazon Echo/Alexa device on the network?
I do not have a Hue device registered with meethue.com

Re: Success with Amazon FireTV connecting to Alexa-Hue Bridg

Here's a snippet from my logs. Can someone please let me know if this is a setup issue on my end, or a bug with the plugin?
And could this be what is preventing the Alexa discovery from working?

Re: Success with Amazon FireTV connecting to Alexa-Hue Bridg

The short sad answer is, you can’t. You’ll need at least one dot or echo speaker in your home to use the hue-bridge functionality. I’ve got 6 Fire sticks and 4K boxes as well as a load of fire tablets. I could never get the hue bridge to successfully pair until I got a dot, then it happened immediately. The speculation is that the firmware is different between the dot/echo and the other devices.

If I connect with a Dot just for registration purposes, and then return it, will the Alexa connection w/FireTV alone continue to work?

That, I haven’t tried. I remember reading in another forum that the dot/echo device acts as the gateway so if that’s true I suspect you’d have to have it always.

I am almost certain that I read the FireTV will only control cloud-based services, it doesn't initiate local services. There have been several instances documented, at least when I looked few months back, where people could no longer control their Phillips Hue devices whenever their Dot/Echo was unplugged.
