HomePod On Friday, FYI On HomeKit

I put up a post about how Homebridge Buddy has a ground up rewrite coming soon (currently in Alpha, hopefully Beta in a few days) and there have been a handful of people asking to Beta test that new plugin that appear to be newer users. I just wanted to say that until there's a stable release of HomeKit Bridge that you can still use Homebridge Buddy to use with HomeKit until the new plugin is ready for prime time. While HBB doesn't expose every possible HomeKit device type it does work well for most things you might want to use your new HomePod for in regards to Home Automation.

This is just a public service announcement :). I expect HomeKit Bridge to be out of Beta by May at the latest (but should be relatively stable in the coming weeks honestly) so until then HBB is still around (and will be after HomeKit Bridge is released in full as well).

I have a HomePod showing up tomorrow and saw a post for beta testers - I am in if you are still open to add people.

Thanks,
Joe

wow, so far down already? I had sent you a PM just minutes after your post announcing the need for beta testers?

Forgot to add this detail. HBB has been working great for me but lately my Indigo Homebrideg device does not start automatically after changes, even if I manually start it after waiting another few minutes. I have to reload the HBB plug-in and then it starts my Homebridge device. FYI, my wife is on my back again, because I finally got her trained to use Siri and now when she uses it, it doesn't working

I wasn't doing a first come first serve. The first group was chosen specifically as mostly people who also code plugins because I can tell you the first round is probably going to be rough. Besides, the worst case scenario is 4 weeks util the 4th group is invited but likely next week or the week after. The program is pretty good right now honestly.

The HBB problem you are detailing is a known bug that I haven't yet fixed, do you change your config that often?

Understood and your approach to beta testing makes sense.

And yes, I make changes rather frequently (Hurricane Maria left me without home automation for two months and I seem to have more time then before to try out different things) and I also got a few new z-wave devices and I was playing around with wrappers. I am in Puerto Rico and the electrical power still goes out frequently and many times longer than my UPS is rated for and the Indigo server will restart automatically but I don't always remember reloading the plug-in until a family member brings it to my attention.

I'll try to get you in the beta in the 2nd group if it's not too unstable. Right now there are only 4 supported device types but by beta two hopefully there'll be 15+.
