Lion Support and Compatibility

Just wanted to drop a quick note here about Indigo support for Mac OS X Lion (10.7). Both Indigo 4.x and Indigo 5 will be supported on Lion. Versions prior to Indigo 4.x will not be updated to support Lion.

We are currently in the process of testing both versions and have discovered a few things already. We'll plan on releasing the officially supported versions for Lion sometime in mid-July. Keep an eye out on this forum for further updates. [EDIT - both versions have been upgraded, see next post]

If Lion ships before then we strongly recommend that you wait to upgrade your Indigo server Macs until we announce official Lion compatibility.

If you're testing Lion and discover an issue, please use this forum thread to first verify that the problem is not already known and then report the bug.

Both versions of Indigo have been updated to support Lion: Indigo 4.1.17 or later and Indigo 5 beta 7 or later should be used on a Lion system.

It appears that when you run the FTDI driver installer, it installs only the driver for the mode your CPU is in. In Snow Leopard, that was 32-bit (although you could manually switch it to 64-bit and SL Server was also 64-bit). In Lion, all systems will be 64-bit.

The end result is that if you are upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion you will probably need to reinstall the FTDI driver before you can communicate with the any PowerLinc (except the 2414 which doesn't use that driver). You should download the latest driver from FTDI and run the installer and that should get Indigo talking to your PowerLinc again.

Version 4.1.18 has been posted and includes an updated NOAA Weather script. It uses curl to get the data file rather than URL Scripting Access, which was dropped in Mac OS X Lion.
