macOS Monterey 12.1 Compatibility

[WARNING]: We are investigating an issue possibly introduced in Monterey 12.1 that causes Indigo's built-in Web server to fail to start. We recommend against upgrading to macOS 12.1 until we have completed our investigation of the issue.

[UPDATE]: We have fixed this issue in the now available Indigo 2021.2 release. If you are not able to install Indigo 2021.2 then see this post.

Re: macOS Monterey 12.1 Compatibility

Just a quick followup - it does appear that macOS 12.1 has broken the web server. This is the first time a dot release has done something like this, so we were really surprised. Please do not upgrade to 12.1 until we've figured out what Apple did to break us.

Re: macOS Monterey 12.1 Compatibility

The macOS 12.1 release introduced a change which prevents Indigo’s built-in Web server from being able to launch. If you are using Indigo 2021.1 on macOS 12.0 or earlier, then the recommended solution is to install Indigo 2021.2 (now available) which is compatible with macOS 12.1 before you upgrade to macOS 12.1. If your Indigo Up-to-Date subscription has expired and you can only download and use Indigo 2021.1 (or you have already upgraded to 12.1 and need an immediate fix) then this patch will fix the Web server issue.

To install the patch:
  1. Launch Indigo 2021.1 (if it isn’t running).
  2. Download the patch zip file here.
  3. If your browser didn't automatically unzip the file, unzip it in the Finder by double-clicking on it. Open the patch folder.
  4. In the Finder, drag the Web Server.indigoPlugin file onto the Indigo 2021.1 application shown in your Dock. Indigo will prompt you to install the newer plugin and the Web server should start.

Note, if you see something like this:

you will need to click cancel, then open the Security & Privacy System Preference and allow the plugin to run.

You will also need to restart the Indigo Server to finish the installation once you get the message that it was installed from Indigo.

Warning: This patch should only be applied to Indigo 2021.1 installations. Indigo 2021.2, which is now available, includes this fix and versions of Indigo older than 2021.1 are not compatible with this patch.
