New Compatible Devices List

As the number of Z-Wave devices expands and the number of 3rd party plugins has grown, we've been hearing more and more that it's difficult to figure out if some bit of smart home technology and/or device is supported in Indigo. You guys don't really care how (either built-in to Indigo or available through a plugin), you just want to know if it's possible.

In the past this was really hard to do (you had to do a lot of searching around). Now, with this update, we've made it much easier to find what you're looking for. The new Compatible Devices page (same location as the older one) has been expanded to include plugins and the devices that they support. It will also show what the technology of the device is and the various ways that it can be connected to Indigo. Some devices can be used with different plugins, and you can now identify that easily.

We've also taken the opportunity to streamline the interface so that you see more categories (and subcategories) and more devices on the page. We've added filtering by category and by manufacturer so you can even more easily find what you're looking for. We believe that this is another big step forward (as was the Plugin Store) in helping you to determine how to use smart home devices with Indigo.

One final change we made: the detail page for a plugin in the Plugin Store now may include Supported Devices and Supported Controller tabs - those tabs will allow you to see what any given plugin supports in terms of hardware.

If you have questions or comments, feel free to post them in the Forums, How-to Wiki, and Documentation section of the forums. There is always room for improvement so we appreciate constructive feedback.

Plugin Developers: we did a first pass through many of your plugins and added the appropriate devices as identified in your documentation (and in some cases controllers as well). We don't yet have a UI for you to manage them directly, but if you have any changes and/or additions to what's already there please contact us and we'll let you know what information we need to add them for you. We really think this is going to broaden the appeal of plugins that support specific hardware devices, so we're looking forward to fleshing out the device support for them.
