/var/log/messages

You can run "tail -f /var/log/messages" to follow the log live.

So the same AP had the issue again. I then performed the same 3 steps in reverse order. While the log events seemed to say the reporter was restarted it didn't seem to work. I tried the same steps again but AP went unresponsive and rebooted itself, without me doing it! This is relly something bad on Ubiquiti's side, not sure the plugin can do much about it. I will try to to chase my post on the Ubiquiti forums, but I am not expecting much help...

I don’t understand why some ap with the same hardware have that issue and some not.

My ap that throws a Fit once a months has a very light load

Are your APs up to date?

I am getting it too on 3 different devices -- .4, .5 and .6.

.4 and .5 are AP AC Pros. .6 is the Wifi Mesh AP. All are on version 4.3.28.11361. Uptime is 79 days. Memory usage is less than 50% on all; CPU varies in the low to mid 60%.

So did a search on all my Indigo Server logs. The "No JSON object could be decoded" is pretty common and I get it ocasionaly on most days but in most cases it seems to be a one off. Looking at my logs I can however that since 4-March I started to get these all the time on different APs which only a reboot fixed. All my 3 APs are running the latest AC-Pro firmware 4.3.28. Now I don't exacltly when my APs were upgraded to that firmware since my automatic email alerts from the Unifi controler weren't working properly due to Google disabling my app specific password on my Gmail Home Automaiton account due to not having 2 step verification. The event lots also don't go that far. But considering I have a monthly upgrade cycle configured and that 4.3.28 was released on 02-Feb then it makes sense the APs would have been upgraded around March. So I have now downgraded all APs to the previous firmware version (4.3.24). I will report back if this helps or not.
