Siri is not recognizing commands

Hi all,

I have installed HomeBridge on my MacMini, after having done everything and launched the software using "homebridge -D", I get "Homebridge is running on port 51826", but Siri isn't recognizing any commands, shall I enable something?

I downloaded a "HomeKit" app and I see the devices and so on.
The Siri commands shall be recognized by the app?

Thanks
Marco

Re: Siri is not recognizing commands

It took mine a couple of hours before Siri started listening to me, now when I change something Siri understands it almost immediately.

My Modest Contributions to Indigo:

HomeKit Bridge | Device Extensions | Security Manager | LCD Creator | Room-O-Matic | Smart Dimmer | Scene Toggle | Powermiser | Homebridge Buddy

But what is not clear to me is if an application on iPhone is needed or not. Does the application play a role in the interaction between Indigo-Homebridge-Siri?

Thanks

No, once you've got your house setup using the app it doesn't need to be present anymore. Siri and the app use the same db to access HomeKit info (think of Siri as a HomeKit enabled app). Also remember there are certain commands that Siri seems to have reserved, eg commands to "turn on appletv". I've also found characters such as . And - stop Siri from recognising the device correctly.

Re: Siri is not recognizing commands

Thanks a lot for clarification

I bought "mytouchhome" to use HomeKit.
Just a question, in order to run Indigo Actions I think it better to set up scenes in mytouchhome and link and Indigo Action to it.
Then, how do I handle it with Siri? Just saying the name of the scene I created in mytouchthome?

Thanks
Marco

Re: Siri is not recognizing commands

You can either include action groups as a device, or you can create scenes in MyTouchHome. Both will have similar results.

Re: Siri is not recognizing commands

That's what I do. I'm a little bit ocd so I don't like action groups showing up as devices. There are a couple of exceptions like an action group as a device to work with some devices that don't work in HomeBridge-indigo yet but I'm hoping they'll get added over time :)

Re: Siri is not recognizing commands

Exactly, I just some Virtual Devices which are used to handle the alarm system :)

I have to play with IncludeIds because I have too many accessories in my homebridge setup :)

I just released an update with support for windows and window coverings. See the announcement for details on how to upgrade: http://forums.indigodomo.com/viewtopic.php?f=191&t=16452
