Fixed - v7.136.528 compatibility with Indigo 2021.1?

I've just installed Indigo 2021.1 from v7.5 and noticed that my piBeacon plugin needed updating to the latest version.

Double-clicking on the piBeacon.indigoPlugin downloaded file seems to re-launch the old Indigo v7.5 client, stopping the new version and the installation does not progress saying "Connection to Indigo Server closed"

I seem to be stuck in a loop unable to upgrade piBeacon on Indigo 2021.1

Any ideas? Is this perhaps an Indigo problem and not piBeacon?

Re: v7.136.528 compatibility with Indigo 2021.1?

Try this:

  1. If you haven't got immediate access to a plugin file, navigate to the Indigo plugins folder at /Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 2021.1/Plugins
  2. Right click on any plugin and click Open With >
  3. It should show Indigo 2021.1.app (default)
  4. If it doesn't e.g. it shows Indigo 7.5.app (default) then ...
  5. Click Other...
  6. Scan the list of files and select Indigo2021.app
  7. Tick always Open With
  8. Click Open

If you have a situation where the Indigo 7.5 Client has started, it might be best to stop the server, quit Indigo and restart it before doing the above procedure. :)

UPDATE: This method is deprecated as it doesn't always work (thanks Apple! ) - see next post.

Actually, this is a better procedure and more likely to work:

  1. If you haven't got immediate access to a plugin file, navigate to the Indigo plugins folder at /Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 2021.1/Plugins
  2. Right click on any plugin and click Get Info
  3. Under the Open with section, it should show Indigo 2021.1.app
  4. If it doesn't e.g. it shows Indigo 7.5.app then ...
  5. Click the pull down and select Indigo 2021.1.app from the list of files
  6. Click Change All... button
  7. Click Continue to confirm change

If you have a situation where the Indigo 7.5 Client has started, it might be best to stop the server, quit Indigo and restart it before doing the above procedure. :)

Re: v7.136.528 compatibility with Indigo 2021.1?

Hi Jon, I do not see the Change All button. It is showing Indigo 7.5.app as the default app to open with and Indigo 2021.1.app is in the list of apps to choose from.

However, when I select the always open with tick, fine, it launches v2021 Indigo OK, but then when I go back to my downloaded plugin update and double-click that, it launches v7.5 again.

You are right clicking on the plugin and selecting Get Info?

Another approach would be to delete the Indigo 7.5.app file. If you end up needing to revert back to it you can re-install it. You could also compress (zip) it and delete the original .app file, then you can uncompress it if you need it.
