Re: Ir transmitter

have not tried that( 2 monitors) and the software might not be setup to do that..

it has ONE hdmi portend I have not tried to use an USB port to display anything..

if size is not that important you could use an android tablet for $30 and use it as an indigo frontend.

piBeacon can drive
- any HDMI display, any size
- smaller i2c /SPI (1... 5 inches) OLED and alike devices
(almost) any device type I could find, I tested.

piBeacon can show text, lines, images blinking, ovals, boxes, analog clock, digital clock, shifting left right up down of screens... .. ,... driven by indigo actions

Re: Ir transmitter

Need some help. I unzipped the 12--09-2018 file and the resulting file was "pibeacon-2018-12-09.img.zip.cpgz". I put it in a subfolder of the desktop called "pi os". When I try to expand it onto the ssd here's what happens. I tried several different variations:

Code: Select all
KBF-Mac-Mini:~ KBF$ sudo dd bs=1m if=/Users/KBF/Desktop/pi_os of=/dev/rdisk2
dd: /Users/KBF/Desktop/pi_os: Is a directory
0+0 records in
0+0 records out
0 bytes transferred in 0.000050 secs (0 bytes/sec)
KBF-Mac-Mini:~ KBF$ sudo dd bs=1m if=/Mac_Mini_HD/Users/KBF/Desktop/pi_os of=/dev/rdisk2
dd: /Mac_Mini_HD/Users/KBF/Desktop/pi_os: No such file or directory
KBF-Mac-Mini:~ KBF$

What am I doing wrong?

Re: Ir transmitter

How do you unzip? Just click on the zip file in filer. That should do it.

Re: Ir transmitter

That’s what I did. And the unzipped file was the .cpgz file which I put in the “pi os” folder on the desktop.

Re: Ir transmitter

When I unzip = click on it in filer i get
pibeacon-2018-11-09.img dec 9 2018 8.83 GB (the dates are bit screwed up -- 12 instead of 11, my fault when posting the file )

but unzipping pibeacon-2018-12-09.img.zip gives pibeacon-2018-11-09.img = 8GB.

don't know what you are doing wrong.

are you sure you completely downloaded the file?

also try the pibeacon-2018-04-12.img.zip file.

how big is the downloaded file?

Re: Ir transmitter

I had a little eye operation yesterday so I'm just now getting back to this. I am downloading the 2108-4-12 file now. It is a 2.11gb file. I right clicked on it, and the "open with" option was Archiver. It created the same type of cpgz file, which was useless. So I went to the Mac store and downloaded "Decompressor" and when I used that, I got the img file of about 7.75gb.

So far so good.

Before I go any further, is there a difference between simply copying that file to the ssd and using the terminal commands?

Re: Ir transmitter

Never mind. I realize creating a disk image is different from copying....

Re: Ir transmitter

What I’m telling you is that was not the case. I did that three times and each time I got that other file. Only when I did what I said did I get an img file.

Re: Ir transmitter

First of all, certainly no need to apologize. I am very appreciative of the work you are doing and your responsiveness.

I'm running 10.10.5. What I was saying was for some reason either double clicking or right click/open did not properly uncompress the file. Only when I downloaded a separate decompress app did it work properly. But that did work, and resulted in transferring the files, at the end of which process a my micro sd card was renamed "boot" in finder. I'm about to put it into the pi and see if we are good from there.

Re: Ir transmitter

I got the pi running and did the plugin config per your instructions. THe pi did not seem to reboot, and the device shows as disabled in the device list.

Ideas>?
