Arduino Temperature Sensor

Hi,

I have been using the Maverick BBQ thermometer (with external probe) via RFXCOM with limited success to monitor my sauna temperature. The primary issue is that because of the distance from my RFX transceiver, it sometimes loses signal strength and stops reporting. I'm wondering if an Arduino sensor through WiFi or Ethernet may be a more reliable and cost effective solution. Not having a lot of free time nor a background in engineering / programming, would it be realistic for me to implement this? Any suggestions and/or list of required components would be welcome.

The prerequisites for a sauna temp sensor would be:

1. Ethernet or Wifi.
2. Temp range up to 75° C.
3. Reporting at least every 10-15 seconds or upon change.

Thanks,

Merrill

I'm looking for a similar solution for my sauna and pool. Currently I'm using Insteon thermostats where I replaced the internal temperature sensor with an external one (some soldering required). It works, but its a bit unwieldy and not super reliable. I'm also trying to move away from insteon and would really like to find a z-wave device.
