Hi Mike

thanks for the feedback!

do you mean by deleting, the thermostat(s) in Indigo or at Nest? and there do you mean delete from developer.nest or home.nest?
The first i can do now, (@work, but am able to sign in) the latter needs to be tested when i get home again.

ps. after figuring it out, you should include a little extra info of making a developers account at nest for getting the key. that was a tricky part for me anyway. i eventually found out that there was another Nest portal.

have a good and thermostat controlled day!

Sorry - I meant the one on the Indigo system. I should have been clearer :oops: I can't blame the NEST home system - well not yet anyway. The plugin is designed to reflect the NEST site so that shouldn't be the issue.

Let me know how it goes.

I must think of how to make the key access better. It's tricky. I'll update the notes later as they aren't clear.

Thanks

Mike

Re: NEST Beta Forum - Feedback and support requests

Hey Mike,

Is there a way you can create an option in the plugin to not log to the event log? With all the Nest devices I have it's hard to see anything else in my logs. It would be cool to be able to turn it off and if a problem arises to turn it back on.

Thanks!

Hi Mike

I've been thinking about that funnily enough - your not the first to ask. Of course I only have a couple of devices so it's not a problem for me.

I'll change the code to allow you to change the logging a little with a couple of options.

Leave it with me

Hi MIke

I've been having the same problems.

i've tried your official and this sub version, but on both im getting errors in the log:

my thermostat (in indigo) isn't showing anything.

any ideas, or steps you want me to take?

Hi

I think that the system has got a bit confused as I can't reproduce the error. I suggest you try the following steps.

    a. Disable the Plugin
    b. Delete any NEST devices that are already present in NEST Home
    c. Re-enable the plugin again

Let me know what, if any errors you get. I did get a few errors until I tried deleting the devices that we're there especially on a one thermostat system. Can't think why it got confused but that did seem to solve the problem.

I think there is some additional error trapping I need to do which would solve the issue but it's a bit late in the UK so I'll look at it tomorrow. If you've had a chance to delete the devices and reenable the plug in then it should work ok. The version you should be using is the latest software 1.1.56.

As an afterthought I thought I'd give you an updated version file (1.1.61) to help you reset your system. So:

a) Disable the plug in
b) Delete any devices (NEST devices that is)
c) Click on the downloaded file from https://www.dropbox.com/s/r4qg2ilkovod1b6/NEST%20Home%20%28Beta%29%20Trial%20One%20Thermo.zip?dl=0 to install the new version

And hopefully the magic should work... If not there are a few things we can try tomorrow...

Let me know how it goes... We'll sort it one way or another - oh the joy of Betas :D

Regards

Mike

Hi Mike

I've done what you said, but still got errors:
Code: Select all
NEST Home Error                 Error in plugin execution runConcurrentThread:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "plugin.py", line 1228, in runConcurrentThread
  File "plugin.py", line 447, in refreshNests

<type 'exceptions.KeyError'>: 'key ambient_temperature_ not found in dict'

  NEST Home Error                 plugin runConcurrentThread function returned or failed (will attempt again in 10 seconds)

what to do?
ps to keep the thread clean, should we go private, otherwise it will get long quotation messages :)

Re: NEST Beta Forum - Feedback and support requests

There is a new version of Nest Home 1.2.01 that contains new functionality and a range of new fields.

Please download it from:

Latest Nest Home Software forum (http://forums.indigodomo.com/viewtopic.php?f=170&t=14079).

You'll also find a list of what's been changed. There's no need to delete your preferences file or change your API key (I bet you're glad to hear!)

Thanks to everyone for your on-going support :D

Re: NEST Beta Forum - Feedback and support requests

HI

What that tells me is that on that particular occasion NEST Home couldn't get online and download the updates from the NEST. It does happen occasionally. As you're operating OK and you're not getting the error message every 60 seconds (refresh rate) then I can safely assume that you had an glitch on your connection. If that isn't the case let me know.

However, it's the sort of error that should be trapped out so I've updated the latest version of the code to trap it before it carries on. The bug itself should have had no ill effects but if you continually got the error then it would imply that your devices we're being updated from the web at all - but I suspect that you've already checked that the NEST changes according to the settings you make in Indigo.

If you continue to get problems then we might have to look further by switching on the debugging option in the configuration - but let's see. Thanks for letting me know - it can only make the plugin better!

Regards

I just noticed that the version in the error is the old .70 not the expected .72.
So, I re downloaded but first looked at the info.plist contents to verify that I have the correct version:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
   <key>PluginVersion</key>
   <string>1.2.72</string>
   <key>ServerApiVersion</key>
   <string>1.19.0</string>
   <key>CFBundleDisplayName</key>
   <string>NEST Home</string>
   <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
   <string>com.corporatechameleon.nestplugBeta</string>
   <key>CFBundleVersion</key>
   <string>1.0.0</string>
   <key>CFBundleURLTypes</key>
   <array>
      <dict>
         <key>CFBundleURLName</key>
         <string>http://forums.indigodomo.com/viewforum.php?f=170</string>
      </dict>
   </array>
</dict>
</plist>

Executed the fresh download. A window popped up saying i already have version .72 installed. The new errors continue but the Nests status stays green now. I have not tested their function.

I only deleted the plugin. To completely remove the plugin and all settings, what else must I do?
