Help with the Auth Key

The following step doesn't appear to be working:

STAGE1: NEST Home will open up your browser and navigate to the home.nest.com site. You'll be asked to log into your home.nest.com account usingyour username (typically your email) and password. When you login nest will display a short PIN code (like ZASDRE). Write this code down, or paste it to the clipboard. Now you're ready for stage 2

Not sure if this was the site redesign or what, but the button doesn't launch my browser or take me to the pin retrieval page.

Re: Help with the Auth Key

Just a quick suggestion - I haven't checked this myself but are you running from a client mac (i.e. not on the server mac) or on the server mac?
If on a client mac, then try from the server mac and see what happens. :)

Re: Help with the Auth Key

I think Jon is right. I'll try it again when I get home but I'm pretty sure it should work. If you can't get it to work I'll send you another way you can achieve the same thing.

Regards

Mike

Re: Help with the Auth Key

Can you post the alternate method please? I have downloaded and installed the Nest Home 3.0 version. I have launched the web page for nest home and it has sent me the pin. When I enter the pin and select Generate NEST API key I get the following:
API key not created - have you entered the PIN correctly? - Error:oauth2_error

I have contacted Google and they are telling me that the only way to access my Nest Thermostats is through their app.

Re: Help with the Auth Key

Well I just got confirmation that years ago, Google pulled the API (Works with Nest) that allowed access to their thermostats and other devices. That is really unfortunate! Guess they want to force people into using their products. I wish I would have known that before I bought 3 of them at $250 each. Ebay, here they come.

Re: Help with the Auth Key

I believe I have found a way to get the 146 character authorization code (however mine now starts with b. not c.): I logged into home.nest.com. They sent me a pin to my email which I entered into the home.nest.com site. At this point I was able to see my thermostats on their website. I used Google Chrome. I opened the Google Chrome preferences (on my Mac) and searched for "Cookies and other Site Data". Once there I went to "All Cookies and Site Data" then I scrolled down to nest.home.com and clicked on it. Then click on "czToken". There it was. I copied it and entered it into the Nest Home plugin and it allowed the plugin to fire up.

I am getting this error though:
NEST Home Error Error in plugin execution ServerReplacedElem:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "plugin.py", line 2134, in deviceUpdated

Not sure where to go from here.

Re: Help with the Auth Key

Try restarting the plugin and/or deleting and re-creating the Nest device in Indigo. Do you still get the error?

Re: Help with the Auth Key

Sorry, I thought I replied but apparently I never press the post button.

I am still getting the same error.
