IndigoPluginHost errors in console when fingscan is enabled

First of all, thanks so much for this plugin. I have been using it for several years and it has been very useful, especially to automate things like opening doors when we get home.

I have been having problems with the Indigo App "hanging" (not responding and asking to force quit) in my mac mini. After doing some investigation, I found this error in console: "IndigoPluginHost nw_path_close_fd Failed to close guarded necp fd 9 [9: Bad file descriptor]"

This error repeats almost every second (sometimes twice or thrice in one second). Since it was related to the plugin host, Jay suggested that I try turning all plugins off and then on one-by-one to identify the plugin causing issues. It was fingscan, so now I am reaching out to see if you have any suggestion. I am on the latest version and I am always fast to update. My "database" of fingscan devices is old, would it make sense to start from scratch? If so, what is the best way? Any other ideas? I was also wondering if there is a way to limit the amount of devices the plugin is handling: I am really only interested in a handful but I see about 125 ip devices in Indigo.

Thanks in advance!

Re: IndigoPluginHost errors in console when fingscan is enab

That looks like a system error

Some bad file or access rights.
Can you run disk utility and do a disk fix/ repair

Since I do not have this error it’s is difficult to pinpoint this one.

As for the second part. I could add:
Do not accept new devices and ignore devices
That should be easy.

katiaf!

ok could you try this one..https://www.dropbox.com/s/5tzcfcvhx1mg05l/fingscan-v-7.28.29.zip?dl=0

added some more controls

if you could be so kind and enable all logging restart and post / send me the logfile output until the console error occurs (check the time stamp)

the logfile will contain your password!! please remove

Also besides upgrading indigo, did you change anything else, ie op-sys upgrade?

Karl

ps
and I added option in config to accept / ignore new devices

ps.. what I do with old IP devices in the indigo ipdevices folder : create a new folder "old-ip-devices" and move them over there.
They are still there in case you need to remember their MAC number etc but out of dight.

.. Also have added an option to ignore /unignore individual MAC numbers, to be released later today. still doing some testing

Karl,

I will try this. Thanks for adding those options so fast! I did a diskutil check and I haven't seen console errors in the last hours, but I will enable logging in case they happen again. This has been happening for a while now, so I am not sure if it is related to an OS upgrade (it is possible, I guess). I also read your tip about what to do with old devices. Thanks!

Karl,

Yes, I installed the latest version from the plugin store and I excluded most devices (leaving only those I am interested in). I also moved the other devices to a new "old ipDevices" folder. No console errors so far, but I do get one other error in the event log about every minute: error in Line '5297' ; error=''lastFingUp''

Could it be related to the new version of the plugin or to the fact I am excluding devices? I restarted the server and then also rebooted the mac mini, but the error is still coming up about every minute.

Thanks,

Katia

Re: IndigoPluginHost errors in console when fingscan is enab

actually that one was easy .. see v .31

yes was related to the ignored MACs. A field does not get populated if the mac is ignored, but the plugin was still checking for it ..
