Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

Hi Karl,

Thanks for Fingscan! I have a question for you: My computer participates in 2 networks, 192.168.blah.blah and 10.5.blah.blah. Fingscan only shows me results from one of them (192.168..). Is there a way to get results from the other as well (or instead, in a worse case scenario)?

Thanks!
Rocco

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

It is setup to listen to one network. really have to think about how to do that..
The utility FING also can only listen to ONE network, you could run 2 FINGs with different networks and then read both output files, but there is a LOT more around it.. FINGSCAN uses PING to supplement FING and reads the ROUTER, ... everything has to be doubled and COMBINED into a common view ..

Are the networks on the same ethernet card or are they physically separate?

not easy.. but.

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

Thanks for getting back to me Karl,

It is a physically seperate network. I control a goPro over its wireless interface, but occasionally it drops the connection and I'm trying to set up a notification for when it goes away. I bet it's not a common request- so don't worry about it! I might be able to run the Fing command periodically and analyze the output programmatically instead.

thanks!

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

Hi Karl.

After using the fing plugin for a long time without any errors I decided to upgrade to the latest version. After I did this I am seeing frequent entries in the log on "props check".
Do you have any idea what this is?

Håvard

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

that message states that the IP numbers have changed. (props should be called IP number)

"props check old10.0.1.022-changed new10.0.1.022" are valid messages. They will be suppressed (in the next update), just states that the ip number changed in the past and the property for that device will be updated,

==> but the others state that an IP# for a device has changed NOW.

Could you be so kind and check if they actually changed.. and you never had these messages before?

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

could you download the new version just posted ( #4.11.9) and try it.
It will give you the MAC# of the device that changed. A little bit more info..

as I don't see these messages it is difficult for me to diagnose it = don't know if this is a bug or the IP numbers actually changed.

I had a problem with my apple TV that constantly changed it's ip number (that was real!) But it might as well be a bug..

when you check could you check if this happens every minute or any regular time interval . any bit of info could help to understand..

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

What did you do with your device that was changing address? I think I might have the same issue. I will check it out and report back...

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

I dont understand this. Right now I am seeing frequent log entries like the ones below.
In my setup, the 10.0.1.1 is the router. Why this entry then?
