Smappee local?

So it had to happen  - I lost connection with the Smappee servers late yesterday morning for no apparent reason.. It looks like the initial connect is failing and I can't figure out why. :?

I thought it might be something to do with the 5-year expiry of free access before you have to subscribe (at 2.5 euros a month).
However, what is odd is that I have an account at pvoutput.org and the live smappee data is still being uploaded there from the Smappee servers.

Anyway, while searching for solutions, I discovered it is possible to access this aggregate data locally directly from theSmappee hardware via MQTT.

Thanks to @AndyVirus, I was already picking up the real time data from the Smappee. I have now discovered it is possible to get the 5-minute aggregated data through the same mechanism.

This is a round about way of saying that I will be urgently commencing work on Version 4 of the Smappee plugin which will use MQTT to get the data and therefore avoid having to go out on the internet to retrieve it. I plan to store the five minute aggregated values in a Postgres database and use a similar device mechanism as is currently done.

I'll keep this forum thread posted. :D

Re: Smappee local?

Hows it going? I had your plugin disabled for a while as my logs were noisy (various plugins were failing) but just re-enabled and seems to be able to connect again now. MQTT would be a good way to go, who wants to reply on 3rd part servers if you don't have to :-).

On the back burner as I am concentrating on my TRV controller ( as winter is approaching).

I am running some test code which is producing output like this:
Code: Select all
2020-10-08 14:35:00: Always On = 340, Usage = 1,558, Solar = 620, Import = 939, Export = 2, Solar High = 880, Solar Low = 207, Usage High = 3,687, Usage Low = 719
2020-10-08 14:40:00: Always On = 340, Usage = 1,720, Solar = 131, Import = 1,589, Export = 0, Solar High = 204, Solar Low = 79, Usage High = 3,403, Usage Low = 981
2020-10-08 14:45:00: Always On = 340, Usage = 2,259, Solar = 126, Import = 2,133, Export = 0, Solar High = 160, Solar Low = 78, Usage High = 3,427, Usage Low = 1,090
2020-10-08 14:50:00: Always On = 340, Usage = 3,274, Solar = 168, Import = 3,106, Export = 0, Solar High = 182, Solar Low = 142, Usage High = 3,412, Usage Low = 3,173
2020-10-08 14:55:00: Always On = 340, Usage = 2,564, Solar = 654, Import = 1,912, Export = 1, Solar High = 1,058, Solar Low = 182, Usage High = 3,346, Usage Low = 985
2020-10-08 15:00:00: Always On = 340, Usage = 1,593, Solar = 511, Import = 1,083, Export = 0, Solar High = 886, Solar Low = 338, Usage High = 3,249, Usage Low = 919
2020-10-08 15:05:00: Always On = 340, Usage = 929, Solar = 352, Import = 577, Export = 0, Solar High = 374, Solar Low = 329, Usage High = 978, Usage Low = 900
. I will get round to it at some point but as Smappee is now working again, the priority has dropped. :)
