Reset previously included devices

Hi All,
So I have my new z-wave controller.
I've been able to add my new device, but I can't get my Z-Wave Everspring UK socket, or my Fibaro Dimmer to include.

I've tried hitting the buttons 2 or 3 times on both, as well as opening up the dimmer switch and pressing the button b on the dimmer itself with no luck.

Assuming I'm doing something wrong?

Re: Reset previously included devices

Might be worth trying an exclude first and then do an include. I know it seems illogical as they haven't yet been included on your new device but I think they may remember that they have already been previously included. :)

Re: Reset previously included devices

Can I still exclude when the old device does't work / is being shipped back to the manufacturer?

Re: Reset previously included devices

Just to clarify; It is your old z-stick that is going back and you have got a new one that you want to include your existing devices onto?

As I understand it you want to include devices that were previously included on the old z-stick. If you haven't excluded them from the old z-stick then they still think of themselves as still included AFAIK :)

Re: Reset previously included devices

Yep exactly.

My old stick already had 2 devices paired to it. The old stick was broken and didn't power on, so couldn't exclude. Either way - that is on it's way back to the seller already.

I need to re-include the 2 devices on my new stick. :D

Re: Reset previously included devices

Ok, so I think you need to exclude them before including them - it is worth a try anyway :)

Reset previously included devices

I thought I need the old stick to exclude them?

Re: Reset previously included devices

No that's the point I am making - you don't need the old stick :)

Your previously included devices (which you are going to include into your new z-stick) still think they are included on a z-stick. So when you try and include them on the new z-stick they won't allow it. However, you can use the new z-stick to exclude them (the devices will then enter an excluded state) It doesn't matter that you are excluding them from the new z-stick which they have never been included on.

Hope this makes sense :)

Re: Reset previously included devices

I am curious... That works also when included in another control interface (i.e. Vera, eedomus) or we do need to exclude first using the old interface?

Given that z-wave devices are meant to work with any controller (within reason) I think it would work to do the exclude on the new Z-Wave controller.

After all it has to allowed for the fact that the old controller might have catastrophically failed in some way and therefore you wouldn't be able to exclude them from the old controller as it would be unserviceable. :)
