Re: Thingspeak Plugin Updates

Thingspeak v0.7.6 is now available.

v0.7.6
- Adds capability to accept local IP for Thingspeak server address.
- Better notification of device status in Indigo device list UI.
- Adds Low/Medium/High debug levels.
- Honors device start/stop comm.
- Code refinements.

IMPORTANT! This update changes the way that the plugin addresses the Thingspeak server. It is very important that you open the settings for each Thingspeak device and then select save to ensure continued operation.

The update allows users that are running their own Thingspeak servers to be able to directly address them. Within the device settings, check the "Local Server" checkbox and enter the full URL to the server (including the port number.) For example: 10..0.1.12:3000. If you are using the standard on-line version of Thingspeak, leave this box unchecked.

As always, if something doesn't seem quite right, please let me know.

Re: Thingspeak Plugin Updates

Thingspeak v1.1.01 is now available.

This update is a complete refactoring of the plugin and may not be compatible with prior versions. You should be able to reconfigure each Thingspeak device individually and continue to use existing devices once they have been reconfigured. It is probably best to disable all Thingspeak devices before applying this update, and reconfigure each device one at a time.

  • Adds a plugin menu tool to create a new Thingspeak channel.
  • Adds a plugin menu tool to update an existing Thingspeak channel.
  • Adds a plugin menu tool to list all existing Thingspeak channels.
  • Adds a plugin menu tool to clear all data from an existing Thingspeak channel.
  • Adds plugin configuration item for the Thingspeak API Key.
  • Adds Thingspeak channel ID to the address field in the Indigo Device UI pane.
  • Changes device configuration to use a channel picker rather than having to enter api key.
  • Changes device configuration to allow each device to update on its own time table. Note that the update time won't be precise but will be within 2-3 seconds.
  • Adds Twitter integration.
  • Increments Python requirement to Python 2.6.
  • Converts from using subprocess module to requests module.
  • Improved speed - especially when device configuration dialogs are opened.
  • Adds more information for plugin validation checks.
  • Adds more information about state of data uploads.
  • Adds ability to customize where the plugin log is stored.
  • Error trapping refinements.
  • UI refinements.
  • Code refinements.
  • Stylistic changes to Indigo Plugin Update Checker module.

You can download a copy of the update here.

Re: Thingspeak Plugin Updates

Thingspeak v1.2.01 is now available.

  • Now requires Indigo 7.0
  • Updates Indigo API to 2.0
  • Removes custom log file handling. After applying this update, users can safely delete the custom log file.

Prior versions of the Thingspeak plugin maintained a special debug log that is no longer needed with Indigo 7. Therefore, you can safely delete the log file (and the folder if the log is the only thing in it). If you don't recall the location of the file (the plugin setting is now gone), you can look at the Indigo Events Log output at the time the update was applied--the path and file name were written to the log.

Please be careful when posting debug output on the forums or other public place.

You can download the latest version of the plugin here.
You can view the plugin documentation here.
