Current Weather variable

I'm using this great plugin as a trigger for some of my devices. However I have a question.

Essentially I have created a trigger that turns on my device for a certain amount of time when it snows outside. I have used the "CurrentWeather=" to check whether it's snowing outside.

However this variable has a text value e.g. light snow, heavy snow, rain, sun etc. If I want to trigger based on snow, do I need to create a trigger for each possible situation e.g. light snow, heavy snow etc. or is it enough to just use the word "snow" to get the trigger to work?

Thanks

Re: Current Weather variable

I think this should work, you can set-up a Trigger as:
  • Device State Changed
  • Weather
  • Current Conditions - Weather
  • Has Any Change
and then add a Condition which says:
  • If conditions match rules
  • Any
    • if device
    • Weather
    • Current Conditions - Weather
    • contains
    • Snow

    • if device
    • Weather
    • Current Conditions - Weather
    • contains
    • snow

Not sure whether you need to check for 'Snow' (Title case) and 'snow' (Lower case) but better safe than sorry. :)

Re: Current Weather variable

Thanks for the help Jon. I can confirm that this works. I just happen to be getting snow here right now. I'd trigger on "Snow' and 'snow' as Jon suggests.

Cheers,
Dave
