google TTS is giving me an error

i'm wondering if someone can give me some guidance on re-configuring the sonos plugin to switch from google's TTS to some other method. i'm getting an error from the web service that the google script seems to have been based on. is there a config file or something where i can cause the plugin to use a different TTS?

incidentally, i was just playing around and tried using PlainTalk using 'say' and it seemed to work great - so i'm not exactly sure what the point was of using google in the first place, unless possibly it supports more languages or more exotic character sets or something...
