Re: A request for setup help

That is all expected output. Strange that nothing else is happening after that. Do you only have the one ZonePlayer? What version of OS X are you running?

So I guess it's working?????

Did a quick test with volume as a value; it worked!!!!

So; a few more questions if you don't mind!
How would I do volume as a graphic i.e a growing bar rather than a numeric?

Also, (I'm sure this is me) I can't see how you get album art up or indeed basic controls like play/pause/fast forward etc. I'm sure it's all there somewhere!! 8)

Hmmm, now the sonos system crashed; which seems unlike a coincidence!

Re: A request for setup help

Did you only configure one ZonePlayer device in Indigo? I only saw the Kitchen device in the output.

Re: A request for setup help

Hi yes !
Ermmm , should I add the other. ?
As the connect amp is the controller I assumed that was necessary to add and that the other only needed adding if I wished to control it from indigo .
Or is that wrong :-/ oops !!

Re: A request for setup help

No - you've got it right. I just want to make sure nothing else was wrong as all I saw in the log were updates from the one ZonePlayer. I've never had a ZonePlayer crash from the plugin. It does not do anything out of the ordinary .. especially when it is just subscribed to updates.

Let me know how it goes as you use it.

Re: A request for setup help

Right for control pages - start a new control page. Click "New" in the top left, select "Static image / caption" in the display drop down and then find a suitable button (e.g. iTunesPlay_Large) in the "Image" drop down. You should now have a large iOS style play button in the centre.

Delete the wording in the caption box.

By Server actions click "Edit Actions" then select the drop down and "Sonos Actions", "Sonos: Play". Then select your Sonos from the Device drop down.

You now have a "Play" button for your Sonos.

The growing volume bar is harder. Type "Heuristics" into the search bars for the forums and the indigo wiki. Basically you'll have to find some images of a volume bar going from 0 to full and label them. volume+, volume+10, volume+20 ... volume+100 (with finer increments if you want and if you have enough images).

You can then do a button similar to above but rather than "Static Image / caption" you want Device State and match the other drop downs till you get volume for your Sonos device. Then for the "As image" choose volume+ ( you won't see the numbers) and it will then auto update the image based on current volume. Indigo doesn't support sliders (yet? its a request) so you'd also need + and - buttons done as for the Play button above to actually cary the volume.

Album Artwork I've not yet done and Nick will have to help you with the Sonos specific technicals, my install went pretty smoothly so can't really help there.

Re: A request for setup help

Hey there!

Thanks. The 'Play' was easy to get working now I know how!
If I wanted 'play' to also be pause (i.e. to look like the same button) do I somehow overlay two buttons?
Or do I have to setup some trigger (if this is possible) to turn on/off an icon depending on the songs state? i.e. playing or paused.

The volume slider does sound trickier but will give it a go.
I guess the other big request is how I produce a list of albums /artists for selection? ; and perhaps be able to have 'A' to 'Z' down the side to allow quicker alphabetical selection. I presume much of the issues here are whether indigo supports these widgets rather than the sonos plugin....

Cheers

Re: A request for setup help

For album art, you create a Refreshing Image URL object on a control page. The URL would look something like this:

Code: Select all
file:///Library/Application%20Support/Perceptive%20Automation/images/Sonos/[Device Name]_art.jpg

[Device Name] is the name of the ZonePlayer device as you called it in Indigo.

Re: A request for setup help

One way might be to create a variable that will hold a play or pause state.
On the control page setup a variable value as an image and select an image, such as attached,
to toggle between play/pause when tapped. In this case the images should be stored in the Variables image folder.

Then just setup trigger(s) to set the play/pause Sonos actions depending on the variable's
state. Might also want a trigger to set the variable if the play/pause state changes
some other way, e.g. Sonos app etc.

Hey Nick!

Got the album artwork working - thanks!
So how do I get artist/album selection lists up?; or does that feature not exist yet? :P

Appreciate your help!

Re: A request for setup help

There is no list type functionality in Indigo. I do pull in playlists, but use them only if you want to explicitly select one. You can attach the action to a button on a control page. Hoping that future versions of Indigo will have dropdown lists of some sort.

Hey Nick!

Thanks for that!. I thought it might be an indigo widget issue :-)
