Setting up group announcements mp3

I have created a new topic to try to fault find more to see if I can get the announcement mp3 function of the sonos plugin.

Nick asked the following question in another tread:

Just so I understand, when you run the action, you are saying that there is no announcement.mp3 file created in the plugin directory? The Indigo log should have some error if that is the case.

Hi Nick,
I have been scratching my head, and trying to figure out why group announcement mp3 is not working.
One thing I have noticed is that as far as I can see, a mp3 file is never created at my directory. Do you have any other suggestions on how to get this up and running?

Håvard

Hi Nick,
When I fire a action group with a GAMp3 I get the following on the event log:

Code: Select all
04 Aug 2014 14:27:33
Action Group                    test on group announcement mp3
Sonos                           Announcement: test on group announcement mp3, Volume: 30
  Sonos                           Announcement Length: 2.952

In my sonos mac application I get an error that the server can not be found.

The SMB path is set up as this: Users/Server/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 6
The sharing for this folder is according to attached picture.

Any tips or sugestions on how to proceed?

thanks for your support so far!

Håvard

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

What is the name of the server running Indigo? This should start the SMB path.

You have: Users/Server/Indigo 6.

Is Users the name of the server? You can also try putting an IP address in. The next part of the path is the share name on the server. My server is called vulture, the share name to the Perceptive Automation directory is called Perceptive automation - this is my share name.

My path is: vulture/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 6

Does this make sense? I'm not sure I'm explaining it well.

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

The server that is running indigo is called "miniserver". And the user that has the share is called Server. So I would assume that the full path then should be like this:

IP/Macintosh HD/Users/"MYUSER"/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 6
or
"ComputerName"/Macintosh HD/Users/"MYUSER"/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 6

Or am I missing something here?

I am still not getting it to work. I now get the following entry in the log:
Z-Wave received "Bevegelsessensor stue" status update is off
Z-Wave received "Bevegelsessensor stue" status update is off
Action Group test on group announcement mp3
Sonos Announcement: test on group announcement mp3, Volume: 30
Sonos Announcement Length: 2.952
Sonos Error SOAPSend warning: waiting for command execution

Note: I have tried setting the path to ipadress:.... and ipadress/....

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

After the server name or ip address, you need to list the name of the shared folder. From the Sharing control panel, what is to the left of the permissions. You had a screen shot in your first post with read/write permissions -- what is directly to the left of that? The shared folder name is the next part of the path.

That folder is called Indigo 6. I thought this should be at the end of the path.

IP/Macintosh HD/Users/"MYUSER"/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 6

Indigo 6 should be at the end - it is the middle that is in question. Can you post a full screen shot of the file sharing screen in Systems Preferences.

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

I meant sharing in the Systems Preferences Application. It is a separate application - should be in your applications folder. Start that and click on the Sharing icon.

Sorry, I was a bit unclear. The sharing window does not show much more than the share folder name...

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

We are getting closer. The share name is Indigo 6. If it is pointing directly to the Indigo 6 directory, then type this in:

10.0.1.100/Indigo 6

That should be all you need.

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

Good.
Then I have set the smb path in the sonos plugin settings to IP/Indigo 6.
Unfortunately that did not help. Still no go.

Another thing I have noticed is that by connecting to server in finder and connect to smb:"IP"/Indigo 6 as guest I get access denied....
I have read about trouble with SMB after the last release of lion, can this be related to that?

I have also noticed that there is not created a mp3 file in the Indigo 6 folder. Should I be able to see the announcement file via finder?

thanks for your patience.

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

based on the below screenshot I set my SMB path to
Code: Select all
vader.home/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 6
and that is what ended up working for me. Does that help?

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

I have tried back and forth I have eaven restored my server today, but I simply can not get this to work. I am able to connect to the smb share from my macbook. So the share is definitely there.
My guess is that this could be related to the smb issues in os x maybe?

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

I've had issues with past versions of OS X and used the following to get shares in order: http://eduo.info/apps/smbup. You may want to give it a shot as a last resort. Specifically I had installed this to get my Sonos ZonePlayer to mount my iTunes library.

Re: Setting up group announcements mp3

Having the same issues as Haavarda. Just can't get it working.
I can play the announcement.mp3 just fine from any Sonos app
but always get the "server not found" error in the Sonos app when executing
the GA action.

Hope someone smarter than me can figure it out.

Thanks,

Carl
