“Elderly” retreat for 30+ Techies

I’m 50, and this hurt. I’ve been in engineering and technology my whole career and have never really thought about my age at work but this article literally made me feel like a dinosaur.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/04/technology/modern-elder-resort-silicon-valley-ageism.html

I think I need to go lie down, my back hurts.

Terry

I'm not even going to read it - I don't need any reminders. I'm 53 and know full well what it would be like if I had to go find a job right about now (I have nephews who are in tech)...

53? Damn.. I thought you were in your 20s!

Also having just started a new job, still in tech (software QA) it is tough. So much so I’ve even considered leaving tech altogether.

I’ll be over 100 before I get my pension at current rate!

“Elderly” retreat for 30+ Techies

Indigo should offer a week long retreat for the senior folks — May be not Dallas.. but the keys? During off season it should not be expensive and the senior folks don’t have school children anymore ..

...All the questions you wanted to ask but were afraid to ask about indigo. ...

Some python, some walking, some beer ...

Karl.
Ps
And for the folks in the permafrost areas early spring should be a temptation.

I'll sponsor the beer on the private jet if that helps - happy to do the safety briefing as well to cut costs, but I'm not dressing up as a stewardess (or steward)!
