InvisOutlet Kickstarter

I'm intrigued by this Kickstarter outlet, set to start shipping in November . InvisOutlet claims to have the following features which I think might be able to replace several devices in a room if it works. Curious what you guys think about this

  • Air Quality & Temperature Monitoring
  • Presence Detection (even when sitting still)
  • Light Control
  • Intruder Alerts
  • Nightlite
  • WiFi
  • Hubless
  • Homekit integration
  • Open API

Re: InvisOutlet Kickstarter

That looks interesting. One thing I didn't see was whether the outlets themselves are load sensing. I also noticed that the description says, "The 15A dual independent controllable outlets..." but the backing description says, "15A Controllable Outlet" (singular).

Still, a helluva value for all the stuff you get in one package.

I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.

Re: InvisOutlet Kickstarter

It looks like they are pretty active responding to comments. Here's what they said a few days ago:

@Intecular (Creator)

Our device does not support watt measurements at this time. However, it can still help you to save energy by controlling your appliances on and off based on the sensor values, for example, turning off the heater when a specified room temperature is reached, or helps you to turn off the lights when you walked out of the room.

Hope this helps!

Re: InvisOutlet Kickstarter

I should've been more specific with what I meant about load sensing. I wasn't referring to energy usage, but rather whether switching the local load would cause the outlet to energize (in other words, can you turn on a lamp from its switch when the outlet is in the off state?)
