teamviewer

it looks as if the free teamviewer can NOT be used anymore between 2 different userids (they went public and need to generate revenue)

eg When I do a teamviewer session with someone else, it disconnects after 3 minutes. Doing teamviewer between my macs seems to still work fine.

so here my question:
Is there anything else besides "google remote desktop" that can be used free between different users?

using vnc would require to open a port on the router with a dedicated mapping to a specific mac.

Re: teamviewer

If both computers are Macs you can use the Messages app to screen share via the Buddies->Ask to Screen Share menu item. Just start a text message with them first. I think it enables audio chat while the screen sharing is occurring, but maybe you can mute that if you just want the screen sharing.

I also personally ran into TeamViewer not letting me run the free license a while back. Was just trying to help a family member but they insisted it was commercial use for some reason and would not accept my appeal to continue with the non-commercial usage.

Re: teamviewer

I’ve had the same problems with TeamViewer. I changed to using Screens 4, but it’s expensive and honestly not as good.. but I’m a shmuck for small independent software houses. That said it works well enough for my needs!

Computer says no.

Re: teamviewer

tried screen4 , but that requires the same port mapping as VNC (at least with my router) .. I will try the message buddy options and google remote desktop

first went logmein then teamviewer ...

.. isn't there an opportunity for INDIGO to have a simple screen sharing solution something along the remote access solution ..
you guys just need to mange the forwarding of vnc port through your remote access service .. just thinking out loud.

both parties run vnc, indigo captures the port and tunnels it through your remote server??

Re: teamviewer

Hey Karl, I’m sure you have an answer to this- why aren’t you instead VPN’ing into your Unifi goodness and then VNC’ing to the server?

Re: teamviewer

It is not for myself.
It is for when I try to help others.
As soon as the userids are different teamviewer stops working now.
Try to make it easier for you guys

Re: teamviewer

MSP360 ..."host for mac is coming a bit later next year. We will announce it widely"

only the controller piece(client) available now, the controlled part (server= destination) not yet

:(
