This article https://www.cultofmac.com/495208/homepo ... ore-495208 mentions this possibility as a negative--that there's no implementation of an App Store for HomePod.

But the idea is super intriguing, and certainly something Apple must be considering for HomePod OS 2.0.

The 32x32 LED matrix on the top is interesting news too.

So some brainstorming: What would Indigo Touch(less) for HomePod do?

Although the HomePod has the same processor inside as an iPhone, there has been no indication from Apple they plan, or would allow, 3rd parties to develop apps that could load and run inside the HomePod itself.

The lack of an App Store is the least of the problems. Right now, we have no idea how much flash memory and ram is inside the HomePod. Without a decent amount of extra memory to hold 3rd party or add-in apps and data, the hardware itself will not be suitable for adding apps - even ignoring the marketing, support, and all the other things that would need to be in place to make it happen.

Right now, rumors are rampant that it won't even have a full implementation of Siri - It might only have a "chopped down" Siri that is focused mainly on audio/music with a smattering of home control thrown in.

Until we learn more, or until it ships, there is nothing further to say expect blind hopes or speculation.
