How are you monitoring battery level in devices?

As some z-wave devices do not report correct battery levels, how are you monitoring devices for new batteries.

Whilst I do like to stay away from battery devices, my list of them seems to be constantly growing.

I would be interested to hear how you are addressing this please.

Cheers

Hi Mat,

I have been trying to monitor the battery level with a schedule and condition battery level for every device.
But since not all devices report their battery status properly I have come to the conclusion that this will never work properly.
If I would react on the battery warning on the other hand, I would peplace batteries far too often.

So now I use the watchdog plugin to report devices that are dead for a certain amount of time, usually a few hours.
In fact I find that I have nothing so mission critical that I have to react before the battery is completely empty.
Just my 2 ct.

Thanks Wilhelm, I recall seeing the plugin now... thanks.

No nothing mission critical on battery, so I too am happy to run them down - I'll have a look.....

Cheers

Totally agree on the benefits of Watchdog plugin for Z-wave devices.
