How Do I (can I even) Retrieve NowPlaying Info from Airport

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, or if this section gets enough traffic...

Is there a way to retrieve metadata (song title/artist) from an Airport Express on my network? I'd like to use this in a plugin if I could.

I don't necessarily mean retrievable from the computer that's doing the streaming either. i.e. Someone comes to my house and is streaming from their iPhone to my Airport Express from the iPhone music player, Pandora, Spotify, whatever... I want Indigo to get that info from the Airport Express.

Is this doable?

I doubt it. I think the Airplay device (the Airport Express) is just getting an audio data stream from the sending device (iPhone, etc). I don't think it sends any meta data, because there's nothing the Airport Express could do with it if it got it.

But, if it's possible at all, I would start by looking at the source code for Shairport4w: http://sourceforge.net/projects/shairport4w/

It's a Windows Airplay client, so it's going to be providing the same network interface that the AE is. You might be able to figure out if the data is sent to the client, or how you might be able to get it back.
