Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

Think we need to look out for a Python library to be updated / built. This plugin hasn’t seen an update in a while. I think I even personally modified the original authors code. The underlying library is from here https://github.com/TomFaulkner/SenseMe

Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

I suspect one of the devs is going to have to look at this one; it’s obviously popular and hasn’t had an update in a while, even for bugs that have been reported here.

Let’s see what options there are.

Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

I’m still running one version back from the current version in the store - I updated (a long time ago) and got some errors so fell back (works great for me) - would be nice to see it updated - knock out the P3 thing and support for the latest firmware - that would make it a two-fer :-)

Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

Fixing the old issues and making py3 is relatively simple.

Moving to new firmware, less so!

https://github.com/jfroy/aiobafi6 looks promising.

Anybody feeling adventurous? According to the other link I posted there is a firmware roll back option.

Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

I’m looking at it, but we need to be aware there’s many many abandoned but heavily used plugins that the community need to bring up to date between us/them.

I’ll need a beta tester.

Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

Do you need a tester that is on the 2022/P3 version of indigo?

If not I can help but I cannot update indigo yet - not until plugins I can’t live without get updated….

You do know that 2022.1 will run both old and new plugins, right? The next release won't, but this one does.

Point being, you can help with beta testing all the plugins you want upgraded with the ability to switch back to the older release if it doesn't work...

Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

No I did not know that - I will look into it- but I know I have read several notes on several new plug-in release pages that say “requires the 2022” version. Are those wrong or exceptions to what you just mentioned?

Also, would I need to install python 3 somehow? - Are there any process support documents to guide someone willing to help? Thanks…

Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

As Jay says, you can update to 2022.1 and still run any plugin that you ran on 2021.x - it supports both Py2 and Py3 plugins.

2022.2 will be when Py2 goes away; hopefully by then the community will have upgraded as many plugins as possible. Several will still need doing, several won’t be possible or will be superseded, and with any luck several will literally need a number changing in the .plist file*.

(*not holding out much luck for that; not many of us have coded our Py2 plugins in pure Py3 code previously!)

Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

Those that “require 2022” are updated to Py3 and need 2022.1, but any not updated will still run in Py2.

Indigo handles all the necessary Python installs; the end user doesn’t need to do anything.

Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

OK, thanks - that is the part I did not have right in my head - for some reason I was thinking I could not load the 2022 version if I did not update my MAC to an OS that loads P3 which I think now is 12.3 and 12.4 - I’m still a full OS version back on my Indigo machine.

So I’m assuming when I load up Indigo 2022 it will take care of loading P3 while still leaving P2 on the machine, sorry for the questions but I don’t want to jump off a cliff without a parachute….

Sorry, hang fire a sec whilst I check.

If you’re OS behind I might be slightly wrong.

Re: Plugin for Haiku Fan with SenseME

Carry on.

Indigo 2022.1 installs the needed versions of Python as long as you're on Sierra (10.12) or later.
