A sad day today....removing all the smarts :(

A sad day today all after many happy automated years with Indigo I’ve just shut the Mac mini down maybe for the last time

Change in circumstances (amicable divorce situ) means we’re leaving the family home so I’ve just spent the day removing zwave modules from behind light switches, removing modules and finally shutting down the Mac mini.

New home life is a little different (in a swish serviced apartment complex which does at least have lutron my room lighting so still have some smarts in life and have automated the roller blinds)

Many good geeky times and projects completed through indigo and these forums so thanks to all for the motivation and inspiration.

Hope indigo continues to thrive and that it can regain its rightful crown that for me at least it’s slipped in recent years a little.

Cheers

Noel

Ps if anyone in the UK wants a selection of zwave modules Fibaro dimmers, qubino relay module, tkb plugin modules, a zwave usb stick, and an rfxtrx usb interface and some light wave rf switches (still the fastest switches I’ve ever used) then let me know :)

Cheers @korey these are by far the best HA forums I’ve ever found since the demise of ukha_d

Facebook groups just aren’t as good as proper forums!

4 x fibaro dimmer 2’s
1 x fibaro dimmer 1
1 x qubino relay
1 x fibaro relay two channel (I was switching two lighting circuits)
6 motion sensors 1 fibaro the others a Chinese brand
2 x door closed sensors (good for bathroom occupancy sensing to stop lights going off with no motion!)
One door sensor
2 x plug in sockets
Usb z wave stick
Usb rfxtrx dongle

Also have some click mini grid switches and plates

Also may have an electric latch plate that I used with the relay to automate my Uk Yale style front door lock (best HA thing I ever did)

Not sure on price
The modules are all £45 each new, the motion sensors were £20 each I think, happy to take an offer for the lot

I feel for you, but note i began my Indigo voyage between marriages in a 500 sq ft apartment, and throwing out WAF is liberating. Take care

Fair comment! For me I’m a lot about simplicity now, indigo is far from that sadly with the difficulties in getting voice control etc to work.
I really like true automation which it’s great at but lots of use cases where I want control too

Going to be interesting to see how the space develops

Two and a half years later and I'M BACK :)

Life with just Alexa and the atrocious Aeotec Smart Things had me craving Indigo even in a very simple apartment setup so one new license purchased and I'm back!

Looking forward to seeing what new things I can be tempted with even though I'm just in a small place!

Dude, if it's any consolation, my home automation game got much better during my latest wife's tenure : )
