Needed an iMac running Indigo in the shop...

... so I welded up a floating imac (late 2012) terminal that i can move around and latch to the ceiling.

Might be my favorite one-day project.

Nice. I can see why you needed a way to hang it from the ceiling. There's nowhere else to put it! :D

I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.

Pretty sweet. I'd like to see more pictures of the mount parts on the back.

I have the opposite problem here in Texas. I had an iPad mounted in my garage for a couple months... over summer, the glue melted and the screen fell off

Whoah, that sounds hot.

Here are a couple pics i took. The whole thing is just 1” square and flat plate, all 1/8” thick.

Totally out of order but hopefully illustrative

Looks like some form of visa mount adapter and the "Hack saw" method? I've seen posts where you can use a loyalty card and a torx wrench to remove the old stand, but I haven't seen anything for sale that would mount in the original hole... if I removed it.

I haven't welded in years, but I've been thinking about getting back into it. I made a deal with my wife that I can get the new bronco if I fix up and sell my old one.... that will require some replacement floors and some other body repairs... maybe some new rock sliders.

Oh I sawed off the stand and bought a vesa adapter ages ago.

In re: welding...
I like home automation because it kinda makes me feel like god, what with the lights and all.

Melting and fusing metal together also scratches that itch ;)

I got a Primeweld inverter powered ac tig for $800; it has a HUGE enthusiast following, made in not china, and great support. Do it!
