Vera Lite

Questions about hardware that can be controlled by Indigo (but not through the interfaces and plugins listed). If Indigo doesn't support some bit of hardware you're interested in, and you don't find a 3rd Party Plugin for it, add it to this forum. Be sure to include links to as much information as you can find about it.

Note: adding it here does not mean we're going to add it - in fact it's possible one of our 3rd party developers may decide to write a plugin for it. We add hardware/features based on a lot of different factors beyond just having a request for it.

Vera Lite

So in my previous house, I had a door lock that was tied to a VeraLite, and from there via ethernet to Indigo. Honestly, I didn't know enough back then of how the lock was connected to the VeraLite, but now half way suspect it was via Z-Wave(though there may have been a unique protocol that the lock had that required the VeraLite) The Vera plugin worked just fine(after a lot of help and suggestions from the community). When I moved, I bought a Z-wave stick and never used the VeraLite. Everything else was Insteon. No Z-wave devices.

But I do have a detached garage with a few Z-Wave devices, and and ethernet connection back to the house. I'm wondering if its possible to pair the Z-Wave devices in the detached garage to the VeraLite, and thru the plugin, back to Indigo.

Re: Vera Lite

That is in fact probably the primary use-case for the Vera Plugin now that Indigo supports Z-Wave locks natively. It's an easy way to extend your control network to outbuildings and other things that are too far to reach via Insteon and/or native Z-Wave interfaces.

Re: Vera Lite

Great.

The ZWave connection out there works about 98% of the time, but good to know this is actually possible.

As always... THANKS!
