Supported Locks

Forum rules

Questions about hardware that can be controlled by Indigo (but not through the interfaces and plugins listed). If Indigo doesn't support some bit of hardware you're interested in, and you don't find a 3rd Party Plugin for it, add it to this forum. Be sure to include links to as much information as you can find about it.

Note: adding it here does not mean we're going to add it - in fact it's possible one of our 3rd party developers may decide to write a plugin for it. We add hardware/features based on a lot of different factors beyond just having a request for it.

Supported Locks

This is the only post available under locks ... so hope I am asking in the right place...
I am happy to say my standard front door lock died last week and I am looking at buying a smart/Indigo connected lock. Do you have recommendation out of all the models that can interface with Indigo?
Thank you very much :)

Probably would have been better just to start a new thread. In any case, I've got two of the Kwikset 910 (Z-Wave) locks. Works just fine with Indigo.

Re: Supported Locks

Check the Locks section of the Compatible Devices list for a good start.

[MODERATOR NOTE] moved to a more appropriate forum.

Re: Supported Locks

I just installed a Kwikset 914 Z-Wave Plus keypad deadbolt and, while Indigo doesn't have a custom definition for this model, it does recognize it as a Kwikset keypad lock and seems to work just fine with it.

I use the Z-Wave Lock Manager plugin to manage user codes on the lock as well as detecting which user unlocks the door.

Re: Supported Locks

I’m looking at the Kwikset 910 Zwave lock. Will that work with my current 2413U hub connected to my computer, or do I need another Hub so the Zwave product will be picked up by my server?

The 2413U is an Insteon interface. You need a Z-wave interface for the locks. Like: https://www.amazon.com/Aeotec-Z-Stick-Z ... 00X0AWA6E/

Re: Supported Locks

Thank you, I need to order that.

Will this lock show if the lock is open/closed? (Locked or unlocked?) I have an older lock, not sure of the brand name, but the battery’s die really quick. It didn’t connect to my server very well. Didn’t know if this version did any better.

Re: Supported Locks

I have two of the Kwikset 910 locks. They work very well. If you use it mostly for monitoring, and don't open/close remotely much, the batteries last six months or more. Operating the lock off the batteries runs them down the most.

Re: Supported Locks

Cool, can you see if the lock is open or closed?

Yes, the Indigo UI shows that. And if you use the Z-wave Lock Manager plugin, you can see how it was last locked or unlocked, and also manage the PINs.

+1. I've been using a 910 for about 7 years now (first through the Vera Bridge then directly). Some years ago, I accidentally dropped the battery cage (which is plastic) and it shattered. Contacted Kwikset and they sent me a new one for free within days - very impressed with their customer service.
