HomeSeer HS-FLS100+ Z-Wave Plus Floodlight Sensor

Forum rules

Questions about hardware that can be controlled by Indigo (but not through the interfaces and plugins listed). If Indigo doesn't support some bit of hardware you're interested in, and you don't find a 3rd Party Plugin for it, add it to this forum. Be sure to include links to as much information as you can find about it.

Note: adding it here does not mean we're going to add it - in fact it's possible one of our 3rd party developers may decide to write a plugin for it. We add hardware/features based on a lot of different factors beyond just having a request for it.

HomeSeer HS-FLS100+ Z-Wave Plus Floodlight Sensor

I purchased one of these off of Amazon and installed it on an older floodlight today:

https://products.z-wavealliance.org/products/2947

Here's the installation instructions for it: https://homeseer.com/wp-content/uploads ... nual2b.pdf

I'm an Insteon guy, so Z-wave is a bit new for me. I do have the Aeotec Gen5 stick hooked to my Mac, and have been able to get this new HomeSeer device into inclusion mode. I have a single device in Indigo for this: Notification Sensor.

My guess is that this device is not supported, because although I can see the state is off, it does not come on when the motion sensor activates the lights (I do see the Z-Wave status bar at the bottom of the Indigo window activate though, so traffic is passing back and forth).

What information can I provide to get this supported?

Open the device config dialog and click the Submit Device Information button (assuming it's there, I think it should be). Fill out the resulting form as completely as possible and that will get it onto our list.

You might be able to catch the motion sensor on/off commands using the raw Z-Wave commands. You'd need to trigger the motion sensor (and the associated off/timeout) and then dump the recent Z-Wave commands to find the specific command.

FYI, because of the sheer volume of Z-Wave devices (thousands vs 10's of Insteon), it's always a good idea to check the Compatible Devices list before buying something. If a device you want isn't there then you can ask on the forums.

Thanks Jay. I filled out the device report.

Coming from Insteon, I just expect things to work, but now I'm seeing that Z-wave has a hearty ecosystem of devices, and not all are supported by Indigo.

I see that there's a way to dump device details. I'll add that here:

Many times a device will just work (on/off/dim, thermostats, locks, simple sensors, etc). When devices serve multiple purposes (have multiple personalities) or are not main-stream devices then they often need a custom definition.

Indigo 7.3 (and 7.3.1) are now available and should support the HomeSeer Floodlight Sensor (HS-FLS100+).

Hi, can anybody verify whether this is actually supported? It still is not in the compatibility database. Thx.

I’ve had it for a while and it works just fine.

It is listed on the compatible devices web page, but probably not under the category you checked. It is currently under motion sensors and not lighting. Currently there is an internal imitation that each device can only be listed under a single category, which we hope to address at some point.

We also need a search now that the database is getting big. We'll look at adding that as well.
