Questions about hardware that can be controlled by Indigo (but not through the interfaces and plugins listed). If Indigo doesn't support some bit of hardware you're interested in, and you don't find a 3rd Party Plugin for it, add it to this forum. Be sure to include links to as much information as you can find about it.

Note: adding it here does not mean we're going to add it - in fact it's possible one of our 3rd party developers may decide to write a plugin for it. We add hardware/features based on a lot of different factors beyond just having a request for it.

I'm hoping Durosity caught my invisible wink and knows I was kidding in the friendly banter we've built up on here.

If you look at http://www.lockcity.co.uk/wp-content/up ... 0/mech.jpg that is an example of UPVC door locks in the UK. They make up probably 50% of all doors, the rest being traditional wood with lever locks.

http://dclocksmithsrhuddlan.co.uk/resou ... 00x500.jpg is a Euro lock that goes in the matching shaped hole in the lock - these are interchangeable in seconds, and a Zwave unit would equally well work.

However, look at the fierce looking hook. There are up to five of those up the length of the door edge, and sometimes top and rear-edge as well.

They are flush inside the door when the door is unlocked. When locking the door, you lift the handle upwards to engage all those hooks for additional security. The key lock won't turn until the hooks are fully engaged.

That's the problem we have - Zwave can't lift the handle to engage the hooks.

I have seen very expensive motorised eurolocks before, about £500 or so.. But they need a wired 24v connection and of course a relay to activate.. Drilling for a cable width ways would be difficult and then you'd need a new hinge to run the wire through, plus there's no power on that side of the door in my house, so that'd involve serious replastering in an 18 month old house. Oh and of course I'd want a secure connection for it, I don't think a zwave relay would really suffice

It's not BS3621 but this is an interesting:

https://www.locksonline.co.uk//acatalog ... -Lock.html

12v.. default position is locked.. allows for manual unlocking by just using the internal handle. Possibly powered by a PGM output on the alarm panel perhaps?
I wonder how much my insurance would go up by if my front door wasn't BS3621.

I do like LocksOnline - their videos are very helpful.

Very. As best I can tell that lock will also fit my door perfectly. Also as I'm going to have to knock big holes in the walls to rewrite my alarm system... So probably an opportune time to pre wire ready for such a system :D

How are you thinking of using PGM?

Thanks a bunch durosity, you just made me watch and 11 minute video on a door lock. Yes, yes, of course I want one now - it even beeps! Now way is this going to get by the other half. Nope, not at all. Oh well.

I'm not sure actually, I'm just thinking that'd be a good way of being able to apply 12v to unlock in a secure way. I've not got much experience with PGM outputs beyond using it to trigger my garage door opener, but I figured it'd be a similar principle. Primarily I want to keep anything like this connected to a system that's 100% reliable and always online unlike my Mac mini. Oh wait neither is my alarm system since I knackered it at the weekend.

You're welcome. Try and convince her to buy one for me first so I can go through the suffering of "testing" it.

:-p

I'm not sure of your user-flow at the moment. PGM outputs (I think) need some sort of trigger - either alarm sounding (probably not when you want door to open!), a zone opening (ditto) or a code/tag being presented to keypad. Our keypad is in a cupboard slightly away from door, so wouldn't want to use that to open door.

The ACT10 keypads we've discussed elsewhere would work as an option.

Re: Lock retrofit " Danalock" http://www.poly-control.com/

Ah well our keypad is right next to the front door, and yes it would need some kind of trigger like *72 on the keypad, but as the door auto unlocks when you use the internal handle and we keep the front door locked all the time anyway it would work perfectly for me. I could just have the unlock controlled via the virtual keypad and require a user code to enable it keeping it secure even if indigo was breached.

Re: Lock retrofit " Danalock" http://www.poly-control.com/

And I suppose have some kind of programming that if zone 1 is open to not allow the lock to activate. It'd mean needing to still use a key to open the door unless using the virtual keypad but that isn't a huge issue. My primary want is the ability to check its locked and have it auto lock when the door is closed.

Hi!

Are there any updates on support for the Danalock?

I have one and just started with Indigo and I would really like to add my Danalock.
