Trust Evaluation Agent errors

Hi,

My launchd.log almost entirely consists of a constant and unending stream of these errors. What are they and why are they happening? Late 2015 iMac running Indigo 2021.2 on Monterey 12.0.1.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Trust Evaluation Agent errors

don't know if it might help: the utilities plugin has a function (setup in config) that tracks cpu usage of all plugins and indigo processes in section "Enable CPU tracking ..."
Then you will get list of variables that are updated once a minute

or use the action "print plugin names .. at the bottom to produce:
Code: Select all

                                                       openFile:   *:quest-vista (LISTEN)

but likely this is some conflict between processes that wait for each other, and that does not create a lot of CPU, but you never know.

You do realize that 12.2 is the current release?

Yes. It wasn't when this issue started, so I've been putting it off until I had it stable on 12.0.1.

But if this is an OS issue, waiting isn't helping any.

Re: Trust Evaluation Agent errors

With that kind of OS error, I would make a complete backup and then do a clean install. Something is funky on that system.

Re: Trust Evaluation Agent errors

I was coming to the same conclusion. The previous owner told me he did just that. But given how it’s behaving, I’m going to need to do it myself.

Re: Trust Evaluation Agent errors

If the problem persists you should be able to reference the process ID in the error message, which in this case would be 31116 (but it will change after plugins restarts):

2022-02-07 11:45:47.106773 (user/501) <Warning>: failed lookup: name = com.apple.TrustEvaluationAgent, flags = 0x9, requestor = IndigoPluginHos[31116], error = 1: Operation not permitted

You can then search your Event Log for that number to see which plugin it is, or use a Terminal command like:

Code: Select all
ps -axw | grep 31116

Re: Trust Evaluation Agent errors

com.apple.TrustEvaluationAgent is part of trustd, which is a system daemon that should be running. It's a helper for validating security certificates. Either trustd isn't running, or the certificates are messed up.

Do a wipe and reinstall.

Re: Trust Evaluation Agent errors

I just had a thought. Do you have SSL Verify enabled in the device config for the controller? If so, turn it off and see what happens. If you certs are messed up, that could be triggering the issue.

Re: Trust Evaluation Agent errors

Unfortunately, I do not. :(

I'm usually very careful when restoring from Time Machine to a different system not to restore anything other than docs/files/etc. But it's possible that I wasn't careful this time and something from my old machine made it onto this one that shouldn't have. I'll pay very close attention this time.
