Unable to Connect to Server

This morning, for the first time, I am unable to connect to the Indigo server from my iOS devices; I get the message (attached).

I
    stopped and restarted the server,
    restarted the host (mini),
reinstalled the Indigo Touch app on the iOS devices,
deleted and re-entered the server in the Indigo Touch Settings,
and still I am unable to connect.

Meanwhile, I am able to connect via the Indigo client app on my MBAs.

THE PREQUEL:
First thing this morning I noticed that I no longer had a 2.4 wireless connection on my NETGEAR R8500 router, though the 5.0 connection was still available. After rebooting the router, the 2.4 wireless connection was again available and working for internet access via the iOS and MBA devices. It was after this that I noticed I was unable to connect to the Indigo server via Indigo Touch, an action which I performed, last, about 10:30 last night.

Suggesting for getting Indigo Touch connecting to the server, again?

Re: Unable to Connect to Server

Open a browser on your Indigo Mac and go to:

http://localhost:8176/

Did that work? Next, in Safari on your iOS device, go to:

http://IPADDRESSOFINDIGOMAC:8176/

Obviously insert the IP address of your Mac. Did that connect?

Re: Unable to Connect to Server

Opened a browser on your Indigo Mac and go to:

http://localhost:8176/

Signed In with Username and Password

Got Indigo Web

But when I clicked on, e.g,, Devices, I got:

failed to authenticate with Indigo Server -- NeedPassword

Still able to access server via Indigo client.

So, what next? Reinstall?

Thanks,

- Tom

Re: Unable to Connect to Server

That sounds like a browser issue which would likely be unrelated to your other issue since you got the web page. Try with another browser.

Did you try it on your iOS device?

Re: Unable to Connect to Server

Getting same results, regardless which browser (Chrome, Safari) or device (MBA, iPad) used: e.g.,

Indigo Web

    Devices
    Actions
    Variables
    ....
Indigo RSS Feed

Click on Devices, e.g., and get:
failed to authenticate with Indigo Server -- NeedPassword

Re: Unable to Connect to Server

Can you take a screenshot of the error browser window (the entire browser window please)? On the Mac should be fine.

Re: Unable to Connect to Server

10:30pm

iOS devices still not able to connect even though the NETGEAR R8500 wireless 2.4 network was up and working for my MBA.

Before heading for bed, I re-booted the router one more time and, whadaya know, the iPads and iPhones were able to connect, again.

So something flakey is going on with the router (note: OP, THE PREQUEL), as several router re-boots remediated the problem.

Router geeks or other savants: Is this a familiar problem: a wireless network disappearing and devices failing to connect after one or mer reboots, then working, again? Could this be failing hardware? Is it time to invest in a new router?

Re: Unable to Connect to Server

FWIW,

This morning my HP printer, which was connected via wifi, lost its connection. This has never happened before.

After rebooting the router, the connection was resumed. So, it seems to be a wireless (Bonjour) issue with the router. I'll continue searching for an explanation and resolution.

Any suggestions?

Re: Unable to Connect to Server

Have you made ANY router changes at all (even if seemingly unrelated) in the recent past? Or any new devices added to the network recently?

If you haven't already, snsure you are running the latest firmware too as a first step.

Re: Unable to Connect to Server

RogueProeliator,

The only recent changes (including router, macOS and iOS devices) I've made were upgrades of one iPad and one iPhone to iOS/iPadOS 14. I can't imagine how that might have corrupted anything, router-wise; the problem occurs on iPS devices w/wo the upgrade. But I did fid some unflattering discussion about NETGEAR and Bonjour (though I haven't seen the current issue is the past couple of years using them, til now. See: https://community.netgear.com/t5/General-WiFi-Routers-Non/After-switch-upgrade-Bonjour-no-longer-works/td-p/1721697
