Options for Indigo server on High Sierra

I have a Mac Mini that is used primarily for Indigo Server. I recently made a huge mistake and upgraded the Mini to High Sierra. Of course the usb connection to my 2413U modem stopped working. I was able to get it working again by connecting the modem to the Mini through a USB hub. That worked for several months but last night it stopped and I wasn't able to restore comms. I'm currently running Indigo Server on another desktop temporarily until I can find a better fix.

Is there some other modem that will work with the Mac Mini running High Sierra?

Is there some way to downgrade back to El Capitan?

Maybe some other solution?

I'm not 100% sure about El Capitan, but there is a thread around here somewhere with links to at least Sierra (and probably El Cap).

Another option, if it's available to you, is to take the Mini to an Apple Store and ask them to restore it for you. I was recently given a MacBook Pro by a friend who's employer was EOLing them. He took it to the Apple Store first and they did a factory fresh install of Sierra on it no questions asked.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve got the El Capitan installer but can’t use it to downgrade (I tried). Might give the Apple Store option a shot though.

Thanks. I actually found an online article describing this process and thought I would give it a try today. Do I also need to install any serial port drivers? Insteon has been installed for so long I can’t remember if I had to do this originally.

Since it was working with your USB Hub for months, I wonder if the most recent failure is really because of High Sierra. Perhaps the PowerLinc has just malfunctioned. Do you have access to another Mac you can try it on? What specific errors are you seeing in the Event Log? And what is the state of the LED on the PowerLinc?

The Powerlinc led was red. I transferred the /Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation folder to another desktop running El Capitan and everything is working.

This started immediately after installing the dot2 update that Apple just released. I can’t say for sure exactly why. I’m in the middle of reverting the Mini to El Capitan. The hard drive has already been erased and I’m waiting for the bootable El Capitan installer to complete. Since the primary function of this Mini is running Indigo server I prefer to have a stable environment for it.

I do have a full backup of the High Sierra install that I ran just before starting the downgrade process. I can probably pull logs from there once the Mini is back up. Where are they stored?

I "accidentally" upgraded to High Sierra (meaning that I rebooted and it auto-updated :( ).
At which point Indigo didn't connect to my 2413U.

A solution (this is what worked for me):
1) unplug the interface adaptor from both from USB port and the wall outlet.
2) Tell Indigo to disable the interface
3) Stop and restart the Indigo Server
4) plug in the USB cable and then the wall socket of the interface adaptor.
5) re-enable the interface.

I don't know if any of those steps may be skipped. I stopped experimenting once it worked.
:)

The Indigo log files are here:

/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 7 (or 6, etc.)/Logs/
