Better Email plugin looks very slick. The pop mail device worked perfectly. The smtp device shows Failure in State column. Settings are same as in Thunderbird, which worked fine. I assume From address means Rely to Address, right?

The from is john@johnpatrick.com. Dreamhost requires 465/SSL, but I tried StartTLS as suggested. In either case I get Failure in the State column. The 465 setting works with Thunderbird. I hope I am not doing something stupid here, but I cannot see anything wrong.

Without the logs I can't be sure, but it's possible the server is rejecting the email because the From header doesn't match a valid email address for the account.
I turned the logs on detail level and tried to send a message. It worked. Seems it took an actual send attempt for the device state to turn to successful. I cannot explain it but it is working now. Thank you very much for all your assistance.
Indigo 7.2 suddenly stopped receiving and sending email today. It has been working fine up to today. I have a mail server set up on a hosting service (not Verizon). Apple Mail and other mail programs access this account with no problem. Indigo Server is running on a Mac Mini under High Sierra. Indigo suddenly consumes virtually all of the cpu resources with a status message "Email Scan:Connecting" or the Sending equivalent. It constantly is trying to connect until it eventually times out. I installed Better Email and deleted the Insteon email settings. Better Email works fine.
I also have the situation where an email configuration that has been working fine for weeks, suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. I'm on Mojave 10.14 and my email provider for STMP is EasyDns.com. I will try better email.
Echoing the same here. I have two machines in different locations. The machine on Verizon FIOS stopped sending emails. It is 10.13 (too old to be updated), The other machine on Optimum running 10.14 works fine.
