DoSaveNow() caught exception

Sometime yesterday, these errors started showing up in my log every 15 minutes:

    Error DoSaveNow() caught exception: FileIOError -- file not closed or nested temp file failure
    Error failed to save database
    Error DoSaveNow() caught exception: FileIOError -- file not closed or nested temp file failure
    Error failed to save database
The errors don't appear to be related to anything Indigo is doing - they stand alone from any other log entries.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: DoSaveNow() caught exception

Those errors mean Indigo is failing to save its database file. This could be a permissions problem (Indigo cannot write to the target folder or cannot delete the old database file), or maybe things are just in a bad state. I'd start by rebooting the Mac to see if that helps, if not check the permissions of the folder your database file lives in.

Re: DoSaveNow() caught exception

I quit/restarted the Indigo Server and that seems to have resolved the issue - at least, I haven't seen any errors in the last 45 minutes...

Re: DoSaveNow() caught exception

I'd recommend running an explicit disk repair on your hard drive (if you've verified that you're not running low on disk space). Something caused Indigo not to be able to write to disk so I'd be a bit concerned that there might be a problem with my disk...

Re: DoSaveNow() caught exception

Same problem after migrating to a new hard drive. Where is the DB stored (looks like Perceptive Automation), what should permissions be, and is there a way to force a save as?

Finally, my hard drive name changed on migration, but surely what would not matter.

Thx

Re: DoSaveNow() caught exception

The default location for databases is:

Code: Select all
/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 7.5/Databases/

though you can put them anywhere like any other Mac app.

If you rerun the Indigo installer it will correct any permissions issues on the installation paths. Disk name doesn't matter.

Re: DoSaveNow() caught exception

I know this is an old thread but this issue has just started with me after updating to macOS 12.2. Is there a way to manually save the database and can I select a different file path? Thanks

UPDATE...I reinstalled Indigo 2021.2 and the error is no longer logged so I'm assuming it's now saving? How can I verify? Thanks

Re: DoSaveNow() caught exception

The database file can be anywhere you want - by default, we put it here:

/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo VERSION/Databases/

Whenever you shut the server down, create a new database, or switch to another one, the current database is automatically saved.

Re: DoSaveNow() caught exception

I found it. Apparently, sometime during version 6, I saved it (or created it) to a different location and it's been saving it there ever since. Is there any advantage to saving it in the Library? My thought at the time might have been that for back up reasons I decided to save it in my Documents folder.
