Re: When is the next release of Indigo Touch?

It seems so, that iOS 10.3 will warn consequentely that 32bit apps will no longer run at all.

An article on the c't site , in German:
https://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung ... 10466.html

Re: When is the next release of Indigo Touch?

Does it work withe the PB1 or not at all?
From the article I understand they are bringing this warnings often as usual and the apps will not work anymore with iOS 11.

Ok, then will still have some time, until Jay&Matt are updating the app.

We plan on having an update available before Apple pulls the plug.

Which we can assume will be with the release of iOS 11.
So you probably have until Autumn/Fall.

Re: When is the next release of Indigo Touch?

I don't know the ins and outs of why Apple needs to stop supporting 32 bit apps, but I must admit that this kind of pisses me off.

I have lots of apps that will no longer be supported and they do what they're supposed to do just fine. I kind of get the rationale behind booting abandoned apps from the app store, but many of my apps don't need updates because they do what they were designed to do when I bought them. I know nothing lasts forever, but it still kind of stinks.

Thanks Matt and Jay for supporting IT and for recompiling it for future iOS versions.

I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.

Re: When is the next release of Indigo Touch?

I suppose part of the logic will be dropping 32 bit libraries, making iOS 11 leaner and a tad faster. Plus then I suppose less overheads for Apple maintaining two sets of components.

Faster? Maybe. Leaner? Unclear. Maintaining backwards compatibility? HUGE win for customer satisfaction.

Of course profit is more important, then you want people to upgrade as fast as you can shove them kicking and screaming...

If only it were as simple as a recompile. When 3rd party libraries are involved (and there are several) it's never just a recompile...

Did I say 'just'? I don't think I said just. ;)

I know if it were just a recompile, youd've done it already.

Jay, do you mind me asking ... which library do you guys use on the client to drive the control screen editor? I love the way you can move things around and the sample screen in a browser shows the changes in real time.

Or is that your own proprietary code, I'm just assuming you leveraged that part from open source since you are heavy users of the wonderful software out there.

Re: When is the next release of Indigo Touch?

Just about all of that code (control page editor GUI and realtime rendering of it via HTML/JS for browsers and custom code in Indigo Touch) is proprietary. We do use some AJAX JS open source to handle updating/swapping the HTML elements on the browser side, but everything else we wrote. An early Indigo user, Andy Turner, helped code the browser side (HTML/CS/JS) in the initial implementation.
