I have been using Mac OS X Speech Control Panel since Snow Leopard to invoke Indigo devices by voice even when the display was asleep. In Mavericks Speech Control Panel was renamed Speakable Items and stuffed under the Accessibility Control Panel. The change in Mavericks that had the biggest detrimental effect on me was the fact that when the display would sleep it would disable my external USB microphone. This prevented me, a high level quadriplegic with no use of my arms, from invoking Indigo devices during the night to notify caregivers at the other end of my house. So when "Hey Siri" came about in iOS I thought I may have an alternative method for invoking Indigo devices. So that's why I'm wondering if the iPhone is not locked can I invoke Indigo Touch app actions by voice using Hey Siri?

Unfortunately there's no API from Apple that allows Siri integration into third-party applications. We'd love nothing more than to be able to have Siri control Indigo but it's just not in the cards until Apple allows it.

It's frustrating that apple won't allow software bridges to integrate with homekit.. Especially as so many people buy dedicated Mac minis just to run indigo on (surely there's more profit from that than MFI licences... Or perhaps not having now thought about it)

Is the external USB microphone plugged into a USB port on the display? If so, try one of the Mac's internal ports or a USB hub for it. If not, then I guess Mavericks really changed to disable some USB peripherals when the display sleeps, which IMO would be really unfortunate.
