MVHR trigger

Hey all,

I'm going to have MVHR installed. For bathrooms etc. as a general rule a 'purge' button is pressed when required.
I was trying to think how to automate this with Indigo.

I *guess* the 'triggers' would be:

Moisture level too high
Toilet flushed

Is that it?; whats the best way to get those things sensed? (especially use of toilet)

thanks in advance.

p.s. Anyone else linked Indigo to their MHVR system?

I think you're going to need to provide a LOT more information. No clue what MVHR is, what it has to do with humidity or toilets, how it connects to Indigo and/or the internet, etc.

Humidity level is pretty easy, lots of sensors for that.

For the toilet, I'd probably just use some sort of occupancy sensor for the WC.

So, now I know what MVHR is. What we still don't know is what kind of system he's taking about getting installed, what it's connectivity is, what it's capabilities are (does it already have the sensors), etc.

I have a similar system - HRV Heat Recovery Ventilation.

As the wikipedia link says it extracts the warm, used air, from the house and replaces it with fresh air which is heated up by the air leaving the house. I currently don't have it integrated with Indigo however I do intend to in the future. Each bathroom has a "boost switch" outside it - the intention is that before bathing or showering (or other activities that produce odours   ) you hit the boost, this speeds up the extraction for a period of time before it resumes its normal extraction speed. However in my experience, approx 1.5 years use, the other half doesn't use it all the time.

As FlyingDiver suggests humidity and occupancy sensors are probably the best way to go.

Hey all

Apologies for delay!; didn't have email notifications enabled!

Yes I will have boost switches. My solution was motion sensor for if someone enters the bathroom it does a boost. But this seems wasteful if they don't shower for example. So it was really toilet flushing that I am trying to have 'trigger' a boost. I *guess* a boost can occur if the showers used (just wire off the shower going live if an electrical shower). Bath taps are tricky also; z wave flow meter?? (does that exist?)
Humidity is no issue the MVHR takes care of that itself - as thats the point of it.

Cheers
